This potato grater works well to get the mushrooms into smaller bits:

Do you guys peel off the outer layer around the mushroom head and cut the bottoms. My mom always did this and was just wondering if it’s necessary?

I cut the bottoms but have never peeled the outer layer.

Oh my gosh I am regarded as a overpeeling fanatic by my friends (eg I always peeled apples, cucumbers, etc even before ray peat) but I would never skin a mushroom head. I always remove the stem as it’s tough.

what do you mean with speed Up Mushroom Processing?
you can boil it now less than 3 hours?
Get an instant pot or other pressure cooker. Done in 40 Mins. Makes gelatinous broth fast too. Mashed potatoes and rice also.
