There are quite a few recipes for different colas out there and i thought it would be fun to make a Peat inspired one.
Several of the ingredients are already in the ballpark.

This is an example one.

• 1 Lemon, juice and zest of
• 1 Lime, juice and zest of
• 2 tbsp Orange peel, dried
• 2 Oranges, juice and zest of
• 3 Cinnamon sticks
• 1/2 cup Coffee bean, green powder
• 2 tsp Coriander seeds, whole
• 1/2 tsp Nutmeg, ground or finely grated
• 4 cups Sugar
• 1 tsp Vanilla extract, purel
  • In a medium pot, add water and sugar. Bring the water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiled, add the remaining ingredients. Bring it to a boil again.
  • Simmer it for 10 minutes, turn off the stove and let it cool.
  • Serve cola syrup with carbonated water in a ratio of 1 to 3 or 4.

One could add cloves, B1, B3, even aspirin to their very own bespoke cola without the concern of unknown additives.

I hadn’t thought of making my own cola Robert. This is something I am going to consider. Thank you for this recipe !

There are legal coca leaves with cocaine removed. Allegedly that's what the company still uses.

Sure worth a try!
That is what I am thinking! The organic Mexican Cola I have been drinking is $2.50 a bottle, when it is in stock, so I barely drink it. This would be so much more cost effective, and healthier.

Long ago a Peruano friend told me when he was a child his father would make a coca leaf tea for him when he had asthma congestion. I looked for sources. Some would ship coca leaf to USA but packages could be intercepted by customs. I did buy de-cocainized leaf for tea. Not much flavor. Not necessarily representative, first and last trial for me.
My source 15 years ago probably no help now.
Bottom line, legal de-cocainized leaf does exist.

Mormon tea is an Ephedra species but little if any ephedrine and pseudoephedrine. Ma huang the potent source became difficult to buy. Because of abuse to cook methamphetamine. Yet you can buy ephedrine without prescription though restricted quantities. In ma huang the combination of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine is balanced in effects and less problematic.

What is distinctively Peaty about it?
Mainly the citrus fruit juices plus the zest for naringin/naringenin, plus the coffee.
But what made me interested was the use of purified cane and beet sugar vs corn syrup.
Other recipes include things like cloves for example, providing eugenol.

Perhaps the most distinctly Peat thing about it would be,
The true method of knowledge is experiment. Blake.

Scroll down and check out my force carbonation setup. It's works great. You chill the liquid and shake it every now and then, can hear the co2 going into solution when agitating. It'll still carbonate under the 40lbs of pressure without shaking but it takes longer.

It cost's me $27 to refill that size tank with CO2, you need to buy a tank initially, I found mine used with a regulator. The rest of the parts are ball lock disconnect things for brewing.

My cascara cola wasn't that refreshing, but it hit. Carbonating grape juice was delicious.

Thanks for your recipe I may play around with it.
