Given the massive increase in hentai popularity that I witnessed among my high school students, this makes perfect sense. Pretty much all the boys (and girls) like hentai, and the rate of obesity and evident inflammation (mood problems, focus problems, lack of the ability to think critically and do work without handholding) have increased right alongside it.

I imagine that inflammation increases the desire for porn in general--because it causes anhedonia and a need for novelty that cannot be satisfied by regular productive activity, paired with antisocial behaviors and feelings, paired with deranged sex hormone function. This is a perfect storm which guides people away from seeking romance and affectionate sex, leading instead to porn addiction, which compounds over time until you're watching cartoons have sex.

These are two things I would not expect to relate.
It makes me wonder if damaged DNA leads a person away from reproductive sex and toward non reproductive sex.
I haven't seen much hentai. From what I have seen, the attributes indicate a dark spiritual undercurrent. Does radiation somehow empower malevolent spirits?

Why would atomic decomposition have anything to do with immaterial beings? This is like those experiments that sought to find the weight of the soul.

Because consciousness is all there is, and while this illusion is material, it is made of the same thing all is made out of.

And in the illusion there are symbols, such as radiation, which affect the apparently independent entities manifesting as humans at the moment. And in this game these changes affect how these players are able to play.

Humans, the mammalian body we inhabit, naturally tends towards "Good" while our loyal opposition seeks to push us towards "Evil". In part by poisoning us, in part with media, schooling, wars etc. Poisoning the body and the mind causes the body-mind to have more tendency toward"Evil" and makes it easier to dominate by more powerful self-serving entities

It would be interesting to have the percentages which are behind those "Most popular categories" (and the other percentages related to categories which are second and third more prefered ones, by region).

Do they talk about it openly in class and even with teachers? Or do they openly watch porn in class?

Yeah that does sound a little... strange. We were a bunch of weirdos in high school but we didn't discuss porn preferences openly.

Maybe we're just getting old?

Must be some mad genius who made this picture - who even gets the idea to correlate Chernobyl fallout with porn preferences in Sweden?

Apparently I'm into mature

My friends and I discussed it openly among ourselves, but never with adults. But that was also in the time before smartphones and mobile internet.

We should probably be glad that we are old. I was 8 or 9 when we got our first PC, around 14 when high-speed Internet came and I got my own PC, around 16 or 17 when the big porn tube sites popped up everywhere, early 20s when I bought my first smartphone. Childrens these days have all that by the time they're 6. I don't envy them.

I don't know how they measured this, probably by google searches or something like that. I few months ago I saw a map of US states and who the most popular NBA player in that state (based on internet searches etc). Well, I don't know much about different US states, but some of the results made no sense at all. Some correlations are just... correlations.

Students nowadays seem much more brash in what they openly disclose or blurt out, even during class. This parallels the fact that in general, their behavior is also getting out of hand, past regular disrespect to the point of being dangerous and highly destructive—I saw it in my low-income-area school, but I think the trend is universal. The students at my school had no functioning toilets for several months because students had smashed each toilet with a hammer—we had to order portapotties.

Students have directly mentioned their appreciation for hentai—bringing it up in discussions with friends during class, asking for hentai books from the library (like the library would have them, if they even exist), and one student even requested to write an in-class article assignment about his “Top 10 Hentai Characters”. The lattermost is the experience that first taught me what Hentai is.

It’s interesting to consider the rise in hentai popularity alongside the rise in anime popularity—they’re clearly connected. And I’ve also noticed in general, that a high proportion of anime fans have evident traits of poor health — overly emotional and depressed, anxious, erratic changes in behavior, socially reclusive, issues with fat and body composition, atypical sexual preferences. This generalization isn’t always true though, and anime itself has a lot of highly creative and original qualities. Lots of evidently healthy people like it, so I don’t know if we can draw any definitive conclusions.

Thank you, interesting observations. If I remember correctly, you're not working as a teacher anymore, right?

I suspect a connection between lower metabolic states, increased stress etc. and more extreme types of stuff people watch (desensitization).

Agreed! Porn is a disaster for the developing brain - I honestly think it might be one of the most insidious environmental poisons undermining our health. In some ways it's learned helplessness in a pill (watching other men bang women). And then there's the harmful aspect of blue light exposure from screens at night and circadian rhythms disruption. Damn I hate so many aspects of modern society.

Ray Peat: "Ending oligarchy and ending the digital culture are important goals."

It's not all bad because you can find very useful information and connect with like-minded people online, but mostly it's just garbage.
