I've been thinking
it might be a cool thing
to start such a thread.

Have you heard of uBiome?
http://ubiome.com/
Using the newest fancypants technology,
they analyze your microbiome.
I think it is $89.

It might provide some insights about our little Peat community,
how our microbiomes differ or not.

Thinking of posters like bigpeatowski, jennifer, myself, Peata,
who would seem to have/have had some gut issues,
comparing and contrasting uBiome analyses might provide some clues
to our difficulties by looking very closely at our gut flora.
For example,
us sufferers might compare our results
with results from those Peaters whose guts and metabolism are doing fine...

Just an idea. :)

And a related thread:

Wanted to add...
While it is not specifically Peatish
to get ones gut mapped by uBiome,
Peat's ideas about health and diet
are very gut-centric.
So much of our health, mood, mentality, etc
can be linked to the health of our guts.

So, in that general way,
the uBiome idea makes some Peatish sense
I would think. :)

The great point about them compared to the GI Effects test is that you can order online without exceptions for any country I guess. And you don't need a prescription if I'm not wrong..

Yeah, I don't think prescriptions or doctors are involved at all.
Just pay $89 and get a swab kit and return
and they send you results.

I tend to get zoomed in on my little world,
but, as I say Amazoniac, just for example,
there are quite a few of us on here who seem to have chronic digestive issues.
What if we compared results
and were able to discern clear differences in gut flora
as against those with good digestion.

Now...this is leaving aside the question of how manipulable our biomes are.
We have explored different views there.
But....

I would say most of us have digestive problems, some that are so mild that can barely be noticed.
I think the lab test already does this comparison with different populations, I'm not sure though.
But for the price it's definitely worth it.
I would suggest that if possible people buy 2 tests. One for before and other for after the intervention.

Yeah.
For instance,
it would've been very interesting to have seen
bigpeatowski's results before her Garlic Bombing
and after.

Not to poopoo the idea.

Haha, yeah. :D
I answered that the same day I was trying to figure out
what Charlie meant by "formless poop."
And I think there was another thread involving poop that same day!

Sometimes there's just something in the air....
