Danny Roddy has this up on his Facebook page:

Does anybody know where it comes from?
One of the commenters seems to indicate it is from one of Peat's books...?

He could make a career out of selling erotic books lol.

And the first part of the quote is so wrong. Dr. Warren Farrell takes up alot of the male issues of today in the western world. A book I really recommend for all men is "The myth of Male power".

I did find this commentary on the "180 Degree Health" web-blog,
    http://180degreehealth.com/2011/05/ray-peat-ideology-and-philosophy

It would seem to say that the quote comes from Peat's early book "Nutrition for Women."

If you read the whole blog and commentary,
it also seems that a poster with the handle "Grassfed Mama,"
tries to claim that the quote was from a personal email to her/him from Peat,
which the poster below, "I love Jello-o" would seem to be debunking....

    gummybear--
I'm curious how you interpret that "first part" of the quote,
that you think is so wrong.
    I confess I haven't tried very hard,
but--without any context--the quote doesn't jump out at me
    with a clear meaning.

Yeah...I know what you mean, but
"soft-firm dildo" is the real challenge for interpretation. :ugeek:

    well...
    could be.

    wrapped in an animal flower.

It's from Peat's book of 1993 "Nutrition for Women."

    I just have to say,
that the whole thing has such a strong
    Blakean glow.
    Straight from the opening artwork.

Ray in his younger years looked a bit cuckoo (in a funny way), when I read about Ray's other ideas it
reminded me of a health practitioner that also writes some wacky stuff. Maybe they know something.

"Gaining the social, economic, cultural, intellectual, and sexual rights of men will not liberate anyone, because these rights and roles are where the ugliness of maleness is."

I mean serious...is our intellect ugly then when it is "liberated"? He has some great ideas but also some crazy stuff.

Re: "The penis is the male animal-flower, a soft-firm dildo.

    gummybear--

Having read more of the context
    (see above in this thread)
I think you may be misinterpreting the passage.

Sounds like Peat means something like:
Males in the modern world have more power than women,
but the nature of that power is corrupt, controlling, wrongly competitve, fascistic, etc....

So...if women set as a goal for themselves
to try to copy men's power strategies,
then they will not be "liberated,"
because they will just be repeating and recreating the corrupt power tactics of men.

    Something like that....

    Now..."soft-firm dildo"...?
I'll take a shot at that:
I think I've read some sex therapists say that
men should sort of, generally and literally, relax about sex,
that men should not have as the ideal goal in sex
to always have an Erection O' Steel, so to speak.
That men should open up to and embrace the
(literal) ups and downs of their member.

Furthermore, it is easy to see why some sexual philosophers
might equate the Erection 'O Steel to something weapon-like:
hard, impervious, invulnerable...perhaps intent on rendering pain, not pleasure.

I don't have experience with dildos :geek: ,
but I'm guessing Peat means "soft-firm dildo" to be a positive image,
the relaxed, playful penile posture (no alliteration intended, I swear!),
versus the obsessively competitive, weapon-like presentation....

And that brings us to "the male animal flower."
I guess this is the more traditional, poetic version of "the soft-firm dildo."
The flower is delicate, not hard.
But it is powerful in its generative, re-creative energy.
