I know there are many, many posts on here describing the health benefits of niacinamide. However, there are many who claim that it actually shortens lifespan. I have had good experiences with niacinamide, taking 500mg a day, but am beginning to think I am playing with fire.

Even if inhibiting SIRT1 is a good thing, as many on this forum seem to believe, I have also found studies showing that SIRT1 is only temporarily inhibited – at least at lower doses – and then afterwards, it is excited. So, first, we need to know whether SIRT1 inhibition is good or bad. If it is good, we should ask at what doses niacinamide actually inhibits it.

Nicotinamide is an inhibitor of SIRT1 in vitro, but can be a stimulator in cells. - PubMed - NCBI

This article really sums up some of the conflicting research.

Would be interested to hear any thoughts.
