Evaluation of natural products on inhibition of inducible cyclooxygenase (COX-2) and nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in cultured mouse macrophage cells.
Inhibition of COX-2 activity:
Aristolochia debilis, Cinnamomum cassia, Cinnamomum loureirii, Curcuma zedoaria (Ginger Family), Eugenia caryophyllata (Cloves), Pterocarpus santalius (Sandalwood), Rehmania glutinosa and Tribulus terrestris showed potent inhibition of COX-2 activity.
Inhibitors of iNOS activity:
A. debilis (Green Toad), Caesalpinia sappan, Curcuma longa (Turmeric), C. zedoaria (Ginger Family), Daphne genkwa and Morus alba (Mulbery) were also considered as potential inhibitors of iNOS activity.
