did you suffer from alot of the neurological symptoms also??
I just started taking minox, no issues as I thought it was super safe.

However, 2 years ago I took the big, nuclear antibiotic concoction to kill H.Pylori. It worked a treat, and cured my longterm gastritis. However, since that time I've had POTS on and off, and wondered if it was related.

Might hold off on the minox for now. Been considering trying high dose thiamine, seems quite safe either way

Also, anyone have any thoughts on whether ANY of the antibiotics could induce thiamine issues? ie even the safer ones like minox?
Penecillin has caused it in people I've talked with.
All antibiotics are a gamble depending on whats going on in you.

I think that's true but some antibiotics are a LOT worse than others.
The fluoroquinolone antibiotics are really really bad: Fluoroquinolones 101 - Antibiotics to Avoid- Hormones Matter

Bactrim is what messed me up: Bactrim: An Anti-Folate, Anti-Thiamine, Potassium Altering Drug - Hormones Matter This one works so well to block folate that it is used for chemotherapy. The medical industry has gone insane.

I agree. There are MUCH worse antibiotics than penecillin.

You are describing the symptoms of gastrointestinal beriberi brought on by the antibiotics you were given. I went through a similar thing recently, caused by the antibiotic Bactrim. See this article: Bactrim: An Anti-Folate, Anti-Thiamine, Potassium Altering Drug - Hormones Matter.

The antibiotics caused a functional deficiency of thiamine, in other words, they block the ability for the body to utilize thiamine. This does not just "go away" with time. You need to look into high dose thiamine as it does resolve the issue. At least it has for me.

I am using thiamine hcl because I couldn't tolerate the TTFD thiamine (gave me a bad headache). I started with about 300mg thiamine hcl 2Xday and worked my way up to 1 gram thiamine hcl 2Xday. When I got up to 2 grams/day, I suddenly experienced tremendous improvement in my digestive tract; this happened after being on this high dose for two days. It was like somebody had reconnected the electrical circuitry to my digestive tract. I am following Dr. Costantini's protocol here: HDT Therapy

Elliot Overton's website includes excellent articles on thiamine; here is one: Mega-Dose Thiamine: Beyond Addressing “Deficiency”

There's excellent information available via Elliott Overton's youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFqXidfUsI0vm73xsBMIQdQ .

Here's a helpful interview of Dr. Chandler Marrs about thiamine deficiency:

Thanks again for all this information its extremely interesting and definitely want to implement, what's your opinion on Thiamine Hydrocholride 100mg injections compared to HCL or TTFD would they be equally as effective??

It is my understanding that thiamine hcl injections are very effective and fast acting. You need a physician experienced in giving thiamine hcl injections or IV. Dr. Costantini used thiamine hcl injections for his Parkinsons Disease patients with great success. His website is here: HDT Therapy . There is a conversion chart that tells you how much oral thiamine hcl you need to take to equal the injection method. The oral route works, it just takes several days to kick in whereas the injection method is very fast. The injections are said to be painful but you do what you gotta do. Dr. Costantini has videos available that show various patients before and during treatment; the improvement is very impressive.

Interesting.

Would amoxicillin or azithromycin block such pathways?

As I have Cystic fibrosis, i went throught lots of antibiotics, my mom said thay when young I was on bactrim for like 2 years straight lmao I think I would better take a ***t ton of thiamine and folate as soon as possible

augmentin i didn't tolerated it well when young (skin etc) so several days only, had ciprofloxacine but didnt tolerated it at all so took it just 2-3 days, remember several times of rifadine, clarhitine, pyostacine or tobramycine

recently (2 months ago) had IV for the first time with High Doses of Augmentin 1g/6h, next HD tazocilline and after HD ceftazidime, after 3 days on augmentin my arm was a little bigger, a little red but not as bad as when younger but augmentin was too soft and didn't worked against infection (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), hence tazocilline and cefta, both were effective and I tolerated well them well

after not taking azith for some years, took 250mg yersteday evening, night sweat but sleep was quite good, just that when I woke up the bed was little moist but it smelt a weird odor, a little like pee, die of symptoms ? mood was better today

With Cystic fib, Azithromycin is prescribed more for the anti inflammatory effect than like a curative one, dosage are 250mg eod (1 day on 1 day off)
It's an erythromycin derivate, so quite peaty, I'll take it
And I don't think than penicillins and macrolides block these fonctions/vitamins/mitochondrial pathW

4 Years ago I was given 2 drugs for a stomach bug, which was the beginging of the end for me, In my case, I was prescribed Ciprofloxcin 500mg of and 500mg of metronidazole twice a day for 14 days. Within the first couple of days taking the antibiotics I knew something didn’t feel right, but I continued to take them as prescribed. Another day passes and I had a massive panic/anxiety attack, it felt as if my body was shutting down and I was going to die within a few minutes. After suffering all night long I visited the Dr again and told the Dr it feels as if I’m dying, something is incredibly wrong I have never felt this way in my entire life. He researched the side effects/symptoms of the antibiotics he prescribed and based on what he read he told me to stop taking it and see if there was any improvement. I made it another few days before I couldn’t handle it, my side effects were so bad. Less than a week later (of being off the pills) I went into work and was hit with another extreme panic attack, couldn’t breath again extreme dizziness like my body was shutting down I told a coworker that I felt as if I was dying, I couldn’t walk, and I needed him to call an ambulance immediately. From that point on, my life has changed forever. I had to stop work and spend the next 8 months constantly in and out the emergency room at multiple hospitals, specialists, and my GP’s office. I had multiple ECGs done, CT scans, ultrasounds, an MRI, and many rounds of blood work. I became delusional / depersonalized and suffered derealization, I was completely paranoid of life and in awe of my existence. I cried every single day, I suffered with constant anxiety, severe panic attacks, neuropathy (numbness in my arms and head), neuralgia (electricity in my brain/brain zaps), tremors, body shivers, ), hopelessness, intense fear, tunnel vision, loss of vision, memory loss, loss of dexterity, inability to concentrate, inability to walk or control my body properly, agoraphobia, low blood pressure, high blood pressure, suicidal ideations, fear of dying, fear of living, and the list goes on and on. One Dr in the emergency room thought I had MS, but ruled it out after checking numerous blood work results. I was even prescribed Valium a benzodiazepine) to calm my “anxiety”, even though I never had anxiety outside of it being chemically induced. This caused even more issues as I eventually had to stop taking it, no tapering involved. I ended up losing 30lbs over the course of , but over the last 2 years have just started to gain some weight back.

Ongoing and current symptoms POTS increased heart rate and blood pressure from sitting to standing, weird internal vibrations at rest, balance issues when walking feel like a cant take deep breath hard to breathe, muscles sourness shoulder and neck, sensitive to smoke smells dust etc, sensitive to actual vibrations motors running etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

I suffered so bad over the past 4 years with no answers from MS medical model what so sever problem is there is not real pathology found new blood tests etc, only clinical test Tilt table and blood pressure heart rate diagnosis dysautonomia.
Reading list: You searched for floxed - Hormones Matter

High dose thiamine would probably be very helpful.

Hey I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you had to go through all of this. I am currently suffering from some heart issues, and I have a feeling that it is from a bacteria in my mouth--I have a white tongue after suffering from ulcers the past week. I started having heart palpitations about a year ago as a result of being on the keto diet and fasting every day. I switched about a month ago to the Ray Peat diet, and I am hoping to make a recovery from some of my other illnesses like insomnia, panic attacks, and anxiety. I know I have experienced only a fraction of what you have gone through, but because what I have gone through over the past year in terms of health I know that you have basically gone through hell and back. Anyway, I wish you the best, and I hope that you keep this thread updated on your progress as your experience may be very beneficial to others going through something similar.

Thanks and God bless,

Sebastian

Penecillin did this to me.
Neomycin gave me ringing in the ears that never went away.

That's insane. I thought penicillin was widely considered to be safe, though I have also heard that some people are allergic to it.
There is no such thing as a safe anti-biotic.
They are always a risk. I think its safer, but yeah, I didn't do good with it.

I seen your posts from before, Did your symptoms improve? I did a few days of penicillin thinking I could just back out if symptoms came on and i've had all sorts of horrible heart and breathing problems.

How long did you go from taking 300mg X2 day to taking 1g X2 day?
