I don't believe in porn. It's a billion dollar industry and they try to lead more people to porn with their published studies. In our culture, we look down at people who masturbate frequently let alone those who watch porn (those usually have trouble thinking rationally and develop social anxiety and can't put two words together). We respect people who marry and have sex with real people. We don't see a lot of **** naked women everywhere we go out (how I wish  ).. If you are not exposed to too much skin from the opposite sex, this will sure raise your dopamine and that's good for you. Sure, women bodies are the best thing to our eyes, but the less frequent you see them, the more craving and eagerness is built in our minds thus ensuring healthy libido and a great relationship to our woman and more outgoing personality. Don't give me wrong, I masturbate sometimes. It's normal. But I don't look at porn to do that. I use my imagination and I move my whole body to simulate real sex, not sitting lazily on my **** while only moving my thing down there. To each his own, and I respect all people and all cultures and I'll remain open-minded. Today I put my car in the garage and have nothing to do except listening to songs and write in this forum :P

I masturbated the other day after not masturbating for about 10 days. Then I masturbated about 4 hours later. I have felt awful since that second session. That was four days ago. Had I not masturbated a second time, I think I'd be feeling fine. Motivation is down and energy is too. Also, my digestion is awful and I believe the second session set off some inflammatory process or something. Like a switch was flipped. I am now going to go for 90 days. My longest streak is 54 days in the past year.

is there any merit to this? like does it actually cause a constantly elevated prolactin? because I do it like once a day. hard to stop. and some people say it contributes to hair loss?

My suspicion is that post-ejaculation prolactin spikes can remain elevated higher and longer if DHT, progesterone, and dopamine are too low to oppose it.

My personal take is that ejaculation should preferably never be forced through vigorous masturbation and only when you truly have a high libido and full testicles. That's probably not going to be everyday unless you have a very fast teenage like metabolism. Even then I think it's probably best to limit ejaculation to at most once every few days and on a daily basis focus more on getting non-stressfully released endorphins from meditation, exercise, hobbies, social activity, close relationships.

I also think more males should be aware that genital based masturbation or sex via pudendal nerve stimulation isn't the only way to self-release similar endorphins. Another way is through vagus nerve stimulation. A few fairly simple Tantra related practices can cause a male to become capable of multiple non-ejaculatory orgasms which I suspect don't have prolactin spikes. Vagus nerve based sensuality is probably better for your overall well-being on a more frequent basis as it increases your Vagal tone which is associated with emotional and physiological wellness, probably through stimulating more parasympathetic activity.

Concentration Meditation is another practice that probably has a similar effect as well as other benefits that make it a more holistic way to relieve stress than just jacking off every single day as a way to wind down.

Do you have a URL or book on this to recommend. Vagal tone etc?

Well, the cool thing is that Tantra stuff is kind of like meditation and sexual arousal combined. So maybe you don't actually have to choose.

And if you practice Concentration Meditation similar to what is described here:

Entering Jhana

You enter a state that is called First Jhana, which eventually feels like bliss from head to toe. Not some imagined quiet mind, but a strong physiological shift towards what I would guess is parasympathetic dominance.

I'm pretty ignorant about spiritual stuff, but that does sound like something worth exploring/learning about.

What is going on here?
If you are interested in not ejaculating you need to learn Carezza ? Karezza?
It was very popular with the Oneida commune people in the 40's and 50's. The idea is to have intercourse and have the woman orgasm but not the man because as you say it does rob the man of energy and various minerals etc
The woman can orgasm as much as she wants and not lose anything but she feels like a woman, a satisfied woman
The contact between the man and the woman gives to both of you. The sharing of humanity, the smells and the being together all enhance the person.. And as you get better at it the woman becomes very willing and enthusiastic. So instead of masturbation, try this method for a week or 2 then let it loose and have an orgasm. You will be amazed and so will she.

"substitutions for sexual satisfaction are by no means harmless; they dispose a person to the numerous forms of neurosis and psychosis that are conditional upon the reversion of the subject's sexual life to its infantile forms. Moreover, masturbation in no way meets the ideal requirements of civilized sexual morality and therefore drives young people into the very conflicts with the educational ideal that they sought to escape through abstinence. It also corrupts the character through indulgence in more ways than one; first, it teaches people to reach significant goals without expending any effort, by taking the easy route rather than committing all their energies to the task (that is in accordance with the principle that sexuality sets the pattern); secondly, by raising the sexual object in the fantasies accompanying the satisfaction to a degree of excellence that is not easily rediscovered in reality." -Sigmund Freud

"The re-absorption of semen by the blood is the strongest nourishment and perhaps more than any other factor, it prompts the stimulus of power, the unrest of all forces toward the overcoming of resistances, the thirst for contradiction and resistance. The feeling of power has so far mounted highest in abstinent priests and hermits (for example, among the Brahmins)." -Nietzsche

"When you imagine some pleasure, beware that it does not carry you away, like other imaginations. Wait a while, and give yourself pause. Next remember two things: how long you will enjoy the pleasure, and also how long you will afterwards repent and revile yourself. And set on the other side the joy and self-satisfaction you will feel if you refrain. And if the moment seems come to realize it, take heed that you be not overcome by the winning sweetness and attraction of it; set in the other scale the thought how much better is the consciousness of having vanquished it." -The Enchiridion

I fall off the wagon with this multiple times per day. But I want to stick with it, for my pride. I am proud boy after all. Or at least I could be, if I could pass this tennet. Any tips?

I went a month once, I would not recommend it. It strains the whole system and I snapped at people eventually.

My two cents: sexual repression draws you to porn. How repressed your sexuality is is analogous to how repressed you feel in general life. The less shame you feel, the less you have to get bossed around to survive, the stronger your sexuality becomes and you gradually lose interest in porn without any effort. Like in breaking bad e.g. where Walter white is always horny in the beginning when he becomes a criminal.
