If you are noticing negative results from ejaculating at a reasonable frequency (1-3 times a week), then the root of your problem isn't that. You probably have estrogen dominance and low androgens. I wouldn't be surprised if ejaculating twice a day for a long time could get someone into that hormonal imbalance if they are already in a state of stress from their diet and sleep schedule.

Not ejaculating for months isn't necessarily going to fix your hormonal imbalance. Anything you can do to lower estrogen/serotonin/cortisol/prolactin, increase testosterone/dopamine/DHT/thyroid hormone is on the right track. It's probably helpful to at least reduce ejaculation frequency while trying to get back in balance, but stopping for months isn't necessary (once a week should be fine though). Everyday is probably way too stressful for someone in poor metabolic/hormonal health.

I think this is pretty accurate. I did nofap for two years. At first I had great energy but after a few months that went away and I found myself doing things to down regulate libido unconsciously. Abstaining can teach you something but I don't think it's like a Willy Wonka ticket to health

I think people who don't notice a difference in abstaining from orgasim vs not arent very physically active. There's a reason most coaches recommend professional male athletes abstain from sex for several weeks before the " fight " or the " big game ". I've been involved in strength training/ bodybuilding for about 10 years and there's a huge difference in my strength, ability to contract my muscles and work capacity when I don't orgasim for 15+ days.

I read in a similar thread that your testosterone level goes up for the first 7 days of abstinence, after that goes down, and after 3 months will be like in pre-pubescence. My understanding from Peat is that testosterone is healthy. On the other hand, low-testosterone childhood is when you have much healthier metabolism. Can anyone bring some clarity to this seeming inconsistency?

Testosterone does not drop to pre-pubesent levels after 3 months of abstinence. Imagine all the inmates in prison Turing into scrawny female like men.... Or soldiers who are in other countries for extended periods. I have gone much longer than 3 months, and for me I would know if my Testosterone was dropping, since I have detailed logs of my weight lifting numbers and muscle size, and the fact that my desire for women doesn't disappear in the slightest.

I think that Ray is getting along with Reich that sexual repression is not a good thing (in Mind and Tissue) and he doesn't seem to like polyamines like spermidine which increase a lot with nofap. Maybe they key is in moderation here?

Here we go. Now this is an interesting comment. Could you elaborate on polyamines a bit? I wonder if sexual transmutation through physical activities like weightlifting and martial arts (granted they are concentric based and don't create a stressful response ;) can take the place of actual physical release. IOW...is it repressed if it's channeled into other activities? Or is there a chemical "buildup" that occurs regardless. If so...then finding that ideal window and masturbating with full awareness of ones own sensations and of course without dopamine draining activities such as pornography might be the proverbial "sweet spot" we are looking for. Personally...I fap once a month or so and nofap gives me a very noticeable boost in confidence, energy, and focus. And all other factors are controlled for...trust that! Lol.

Yeah, I can't see prison inmates reframing from ejaculation. They're male. Enough said. They go to bed at night.... and count sheep? I don't know. It's probably the only time of day they get to play with themselves. I've never been in the John, so what do I know. Seems weird, though. Nobody 'releasing'. I can imagine they wouldn't really care if their cell mate had to listen, after a while. Would be a weird kind of vibe to an outsider, looking in. But after a while... Who cares.

In the female prisons, they're all ******* each other like rabbits. Or maybe I've got that wrong too.

Unless the prison food is lowering libido.

I've heard people say that they put bromide in coffee in prisons and that it kills the libido of people...

Have you saw this???

Don't I need to ejaculate frequently for prostate health?

---------------------

The Relative Health Benefits of Different Sexual Activities

Higher masturbation frequency (and even the desire for more masturbation) is associated with depression [34–36], and masturbation is associated with less happiness [37].

. Overall, masturbation frequency was correlated with higher (worse) blood pressure reactivity.

A double-blind randomized controlled trial of high-dose (14 days of 3,000 mg/day sustained release) ascorbic acid in healthy young German adults led to the finding that ascorbic acid caused an increase in PVI frequency, but not in frequency of masturbation or of partnered sexual behaviors other than PVI [69].

i found this interesting,

The New Science of Seminal Conservation
In his book, Muhammad Ali, the Greatest, Muhammad Ali quotes Olympic boxing coach Harry Wiley: “There’s a kid just come down here named Cassius Clay. If you bet on him every time he fights, you’ll be a rich man, ‘cause he won’t lose a single fight. I believe his thing is sexual control. And he’s got it. Any kid who can control his sex can with the title. I believe it.”

it mentions masturbation in various parts of article!

edit:i added some quotes to my post above.
I didn't see anything specific to masturbation. Is there any study you've run across comparing blood hormones, or any of the other things measured in the studies you posted, between masturbation and sex w/a partner?

These kinds of studies are pretty crude. For those worried about catecholamines, any exercise causes them to release same as sex. Exercise has the same effect on blood pressure as well, acutely. I don't see anything in these studies that teases out the selection bias, just like other studies showing more sex = better lifelong health. Obviously, someone who is so unhealthy that they can't have sex, or can't attract a partner, is not comparable to a more normal person who can. Someone who has a health or psychological problem and sits in their apartment jerking off all day, compared to someone who is healthy and confident and therefore masturbates less because they have more sex with partners, are they comparable?

I wonder about the stress implications of failing at NoFap three billion times like I have.
