This chart shows a little more clearly the bottoming out of CO2 and its turn up in the last 200 years

That's very interesting, thanks!
Yeah, the popular press articles are crap. I just listed them to show that even mainstream science acknowledges that something is amiss and this search for "Nemesis" is their answer to the theory/reality gap. Even the name they picked (Nemesis) shows they are gunning for publicity and not so much real discovery.
But if each cycle driven by Sirius is 24,000 years shouldn't cataclysms occur every 12,000 years instead of 5,000?
That's why I think its more likely that an unknown planet with a smaller orbit is causing these disturbances rather than a second sun. But that's not to say there isn't a second sun as well and I agree that Sirius is a good candidate for that.
I think Ray wrote about Soviet scientist who was sent to the Gulag because he published something on disturbance in solar activity being the main cause of violent revolutions in societies and extinctions in animals. Can't remember the name right now. So, maybe the Sun is the direct cause but the changes in the electromagnetic field could be driven by that other planet/star.
Fascinating post. Thank you for taking the time @pimpnamedraypeatIt's very complicated. Sirius is just one part. There's also the Velikovsky hypothesis to contend with. The recent apocalypses have been caused by planets not stars. If you're biblically minded look at it like this. There was a major apocalypse around 6,000 years ago. That's right before god creates the heavens and the earth and seperates the land from the water. Now of course he didn't actually create them, it's the clearing of the dust froma major cataclsym. The first episode of post-apocalypse religion. Then there's another flood a bit later around Noahs time. That's the last apocalypse in modern history.
As for the planetary causes for these cataclysms there's a lot of ancient writings and recent discoveries that point to Venus as a relatively new planet who's birth and expulsion destroyed large swathes of the earth with fire and brimstone as it flew by.
"In Worlds In Collision, MacMillan, 1950, Immanuel Velikovsky popularized the idea that Venus is a new planet, a fission product of Jupiter. And from about 1450 to 550 BC, it participated in a series of close-encounters-of-the-worst-kind with Earth. His thesis was largely (and emphatically) rejected by the astronomical community. That rejection is still generally in effect. This, in spite of the fact, that his predictions about the Earth-Venus problem have been verified." -- Robert S. Fritzius, astronomer, December 2007Then there's Saturn, causing the endless rains that flooded the earth. It's one thing after another in cycles. It's not just one deluge or apocalypse you can point to. The story of humanity is the story of civilization after civilization being wiped out with each successive iteration forgetting what came before.
"Venus experienced in quick succession its birth and expulsion under violent conditions; an existence as a comet on an ellipse which approached the sun closely; two encounters with the earth accompanied by discharges of [electric] potentials between these two bodies and with a thermal effect caused by conversion of momentum into heat; a number of contacts with Mars, and probably also with Jupiter. Since all this happened between the third and first millennia before the present era, the core of the planet Venus must still be hot." -- Immanuel Velikovsky, polymath, 1950
"In an ancient Hindu tablet of planets, attributed to the year -3012 Venus among the visible planets is absent [Delambre, J.B.J., Histoire de l'astronomie ancienne I, Page 407, 1817: 'Venus alone is not found there.']." -- Immanuel Velikovsky, polymath, 1950
"These four-planet systems and the inability of the ancient Hindus and Babylonians to see Venus in the sky, even though it is more conspicuous than the other planets, are puzzling unless Venus was not among the planets." -- Immanuel Velikovsky, polymath, 1950
Forgive me for this long quote but he says it better than I could. Sonchis was an Egyptian priest from 6BC. I'll let him tell it.
"O Solon, Solon, you Hellenes are never anything but children, and there is not an old man among you. ... in mind you are all young; there is no old opinion handed down among you by ancient tradition nor any science which is hoary with age. And I will tell you why. There have been, and will be again, many destructions of mankind arising out of many causes; the greatest have been brought about by the agencies of fire and water, and other lesser ones by innumerable other causes. There is a story, which even you have preserved, that once upon a time Paethon [Venus], the son of Helios, having yoked the steeds in his father's chariot, because he was not able to drive them in the path of his father, burnt up all that was upon the earth, and was himself destroyed by a thunderbolt. Now this has the form of a myth, but really signifies a declination of the bodies moving in the heavens around the earth, and a great conflagration of things upon the earth, which recurs after long intervals; at such times those who live upon the mountains and in dry and lofty places are more liable to destruction than those who dwell by rivers or on the seashore. And from this calamity the Nile, who is our never-failing saviour, delivers and preserves us. When, on the other hand, the gods purge the earth with a deluge of water, the survivors in your country are herdsmen and shepherds who dwell on the mountains, but those who, like you, live in cities are carried by the rivers into the sea. ...And whatever happened either in your country or in ours, or in any other region of which we are informed - if there were any actions noble or great or in any other way remarkable, they have all been written down by us of old, and are preserved in our temples. Whereas just when you and other nations are beginning to be provided with letters and the other requisites of civilized life, after the usual interval, the stream from heaven, like a pestilence, comes pouring down, and leaves only those of you who are destitute of letters and education; and so you have to begin all over again like children, and know nothing of what happened in ancient times, either among us or among yourselves. As for those genealogies of yours which you just now recounted to us, Solon, they are no better than the tales of children. In the first place you remember a single deluge only, but there were many previous ones; in the next place, you do not know that there formerly dwelt in your land the fairest and noblest race of men which ever lived, and that you and your whole city are descended from a small seed or remnant of them which survived. And this was unknown to you, because, for many generations, the survivors of that destruction died, leaving no written word." -- Sonchis of Sais, priest, 6th century B.C.
"We are told, in the inscriptions, of the fall of the celestial being who appears to correspond to Satan. In his ambition he raises his hand against the sanctuary of the God of heaven, and the description of him is really magnificent. He is represented riding a chariot through celestial space, surrounded by the storms, with the lightning playing before him, and wielding a thunderbolt as a weapon. This rebellion leads to a war in heaven...." -- George Smith, archaeologist, 1876
There's a spike in violent crime every full moon.
More arrests, more people being sent to the ER.
Women also ovulate during the full moon.
Their cycles are linked to the lunar cycle.
Stars position aren't random. Stars are born where there's large clusters of insterstellar plasma which are electrically charged bierkland currents.
I think the sun is just a metabolizer of energy. Much like us. It doesn't create the electromagentic energy, it digests it and radiates sunlight.
Disturbances in solar activity would be strongly linked to interstellar and planetary cycles. There was a theory that the 11 year sunspot cycle was influenced by jupiters 11 year orbit but it was discredited due to the small gravitational effects Jupiter would have on the sun. But of course were not talking about gravity here.
I think it's possible that Jupiter and Saturn (perhaps acting in conjuction) could have electromagentic effects on the sun that could influence the sunspots that could then influence us
@x-ray peat You and @Such_Saturation might actually be on to something:maybe you would get giant humans too.

Smithsonian Admits to Destruction of Thousands of Giant Human Skeletons in Early 1900s - ORGANIC AND HEALTHY
I was going to say, stories of populations of giants (7-10ft tall) are littered in the old testament. Noah was known to be from a smaller group of humans and a giant flood, one of many great global disasters that have wiped out civilizations, destroyed the larger human population of "giants". It is well known in science for these natural disaster bottle necks to occur, which is why we have such little comparative genetic diversity.yep.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. genesis, the biblebtw bros, these ancient aliens ain't aliens.
They're human beings that survived the previous apocalypses, leading to technological advancements and physiological changes thay make them unrecognizable as people.
I reckon they come back to repopulate the earth after cataclysmic events.
LolDo you want giant spiders? Cuz that's how you get giant spiders.

I think they say oxygen level is limiting factor for insect size...I do remember that documentary "Arachnophobia" starring John Goodman. Giant Spiders are terrifying.
