All Birds are Gone!

After being told "all the birds are gone" I had to look for myself. I've been checking for the last few hours and haven't seen any birds in an area that normally has tons of birds. Not one single bird!

I've called a handful of people I know and they report the same thing. NO BIRDS! Is this the apocalypse? 5G warfare? Alien invasion? Should I fill my bathtub up with water?

Why would all the birds in a geographical area suddenly dissappear?

The end of the world is over!!!!! The birds are back. It’s still a little weird how they all disappeared for a few hours.

They could have disappeared for few hours if a raptor like a Red tailed Hawk was in your area. here in So California with all the rain and crazy winds last winter they seemed to get disoriented and disappear for a few days or a week then they find their way home again. Sometimes they just get "lost".

There are like a thousand Canada geese in the pond down the road right now.

Although I stepped on a snake today here in Florida, ALL animal life numbers are wayyy down.

There used to be many orders of magnitude more dolphin, alley cats, birds, snakes, raccoons, bugs.
We hardly even have mosquitoes anymore.

That's my observation.

The odd thing is that I called quite a few people within say a 50 mile radius, so it wasn't just one little neighborhood. Everyone said the same thing, "No birds." Then, sometime around 4:30PM people started seeing them again.

The insects are mostly gone, though. Does anyone remember how in the 1990s or early 2000s the car registration plate and windshield would have lots of dead flies and other invertebrates stuck to it? And now we don't see that any more.

Yes.
I gardened all summer in central FL with no bug spray. I spray cedar oil on my dog in the mornings. But otherwise, I did give him any flea prevention.
There's no bugs.

I had wondered if the extreme heat had caused the birds to find a nice place in the shade.

With regard to bugs, I recently drove all day and there were very few bugs that I needed to clean off my car.

I have not seen many fireflies this summer. I am wondering if they are an endangered species.

My mom came for a visit from the States where we have tons of birds. She spends a lot of time in my garden. She noted (and it’s trye), that there are so few birds around… but the locals in my area (or at least not far) have traditionally hunted and eaten passerines…

There SOME fireflies this summer. I remember pointing them out, but yes I don't think there were many.

There are lots of bird species here, I am on Southern Vancouver Island coast of BC Canada. We get tonnes of migrating and local. But I bet some places are not as lucky some years.
