(Yay, retarded diet lifestyle darwin award).Anyways, carotene retention depends on thyroid function. Eating a lot of carrots, I developed orange spots on the palms of my hand, right under my fingers, and on the soles of my feet. That persisted for months after stopping the carrots, eventhough I barely got any carotene. They disappeared quickly after my thyroid function and circulation improved.
Do you know why my liver can’t process carotene?I had that - there's no set amount of carrots it takes for this to happen, it just means your liver is unable to process the beta-carotene effectively. Switch to mushrooms or bamboo until your liver is doing better.
