I have been taking ascorbic acid for about an year now. It helps me with cold, sneezing, running nose and allergies besides providing me with a sense of calm. I have read Dr. Linus Pauling's work on Vitamin C as well as other users posts in this forum. I guess the concern is really about the heavy metal impurities rather than ascorbic acid itself. I take Now foods USP grade ascorbic acid crystals and I make sure that I don't eat it with meat to take care of Iron.
Does USP grade, in any way, mean that it may be free from those impurities? Do I have to be concerned about heavy metal poisoning? Any links to support that it may damage the kidneys? I didn't take it for a week and I find myself stressed out :-(
