Caffeine powder crackdown

The FDA has recently sent warning letters to caffeine powder suppliers, causing them to discontinue many of their products.

It's hard to tell whether the FDA's complaints can be addressed by introducing altered products/labeling, but I'm paranoid :tinfoilhat that this may be the end of easily-available pure caffeine powder. I'd already bought some in case this happened, so if you want to join me in preparation for a Mad Max-style future in which roving gangs fight over caffeine powder, I'm keeping track of each seller's availability here.

As far as I can tell, the FDA is unlikely to challenge regular caffeine tablet/capsule products, they're only concerned about how easy it is to take too much pure caffeine powder after some recent overdose deaths. So I don't think there's any cause for concern if you take something other than a powder form.

If it turns out the FDA can be satisfied by dilution and stricter labeling, we need Haidut to make a caffeine product diluted in powdered sugar

As if those FDA folks wouldn't enjoy some Darwinism at work :ss seriously, a scale is like 19 dollars.

Yes, apart from the microsilica, titanium dioxide, microcellulose, GMO corn starch, hypromellose, guar gum...............

Yeah, the letters they sent are a little frustrating: "many consumers do not have a scale that is sufficiently precise to accurately measure such a small amount." That's why PureBulk had measurement videos, links to scales, and required-reading waivers. Sigh.

Yeah, some of the tablets especially. Hopefully NutraKey sticks around for a while so there's at least a good capsule:

Then they could weigh 3 grams and divide it by ten or something :ss cocaine dealers get along just fine. Is the FDA gonna warn the DEA as well for selling bulk powders?

Soooo...abusing caffeine powder is easy but capsules are not!?!?! Whoemever OD-ed on caffeine almost certainly did so on purpose and replacing powder with capsules is not going to prevent much.

Your 25 gram Caffeine Powder (Synthetic) product label states, “Serving Size: 200 milligrams Servings Per Container: about 125.” The directions also describe 200 mg as a “rounded 1/32 tsp” and state that an “[a]ccurate measurement of caffeine powder…may be performed with a digital gram weight scale precise to 0.01 grams (10mg) or better.”

It is unclear why your product label provides information regarding a “rounded” 1/32 teaspoon; consumers are unlikely to have a 1/32 teaspoon measuring tool, as this tool is not generally available in standard consumer measuring spoon sets. Consumers are much more likely to have a one-quarter or a one-eighth teaspoon measuring tool. A serving size of 200 milligrams cannot be accurately measured using these common household measuring tools. Even if consumers were to have a 1/32 teaspoon measuring tool, it would still not be adequate to accurately measure a 200 milligram serving because this tool can deliver a different amount depending on how tightly the powder is packed.
Based on our review, we have determined that your Caffeine Powder (Synthetic) product is adulterated

I recently ordered a caffeine powder. By the way, I am in Europe.

The caffeine powder was delivered with a tiny measuring tool. There is a warning printed on the package to not consume more than the daily dose (200 mg), and it states that the lethal dose - depending on body weight - is 3-10 g.

This is the way to go for supplieres in the US, isn't it?

Dan Wich, could you have a look at the certificate of analysis?

Can you persuade Haidut to make them a reseller for his products?

Hmm maybe haidut would prefer to open something in Bulgaria. I think Swanson Europe operates from there.

Bulgaria would be fine, too. Haidut, when will you open your European sales office? :)

I noted that a lot of resellers of US supplements operate from the Netherlands.

It's iHerb that needs to step its offshore game up, the customs basically trash/keep every package with their name on it. They recently added faster shipping options for overseas but I really don't see what for if they will get seized.

Just saying guys.. because Polish custom duty are messing with delivery of NDT from Thailand to my customers, I'm going to Bulgaria next week... I will set up some sort of "structure" for poor, oppressed Europeans... Is there a problem in other EU countries with getting NDT?

I imagine anything from Thailand would tend to get stopped more. Not as much as China or Taiwan of course.

I'd never get any kind of hormones from Thailand, that's like gambling with fines. You should tell about this kind of thing.

Swanson Europe has multiple offices. The phone number they list is in the Netherlands, but they do say that shipping to Eastern Europe is done from Bulgaria. I would love to open a branch in Bulgaria as the country has the lowest tax in Europe but the shipping is terrible. It routinely takes more than a month to get a package to the USA and sometimes it does not arrive at all. But still, I am looking into it since some things would be much cheaper to source and produce there.

Well I was thinking just for Europe customers, that way you could avoid export specialists entirely, unless it's just a warehouse.
