Hey Peatheads,

It's been a while since I've been on the forum but good to be back. :)

I was wondering if anyone here has come across or has any opinions on the condtion called xanthelasma?

The condition is characterized by the accumulation of sticky yellow plaques of cholesterol underneath the skin, most commonly around the eyes. Some people have this as a yellow discolouration in the skin that meets the inner corner of the eyes/eyelids, in more extreme cases it spreads to the skin above and below the eyes. It's also related to atherosclerosis, high levels of small dense LDL and low HDL.

I know someone with this condition and not really looking to give them advice (I'm not a doctor) but curious as to what causes it. They mention that if they're stressed they can feel/sense them under their skin and the plaques are sticky to the touch. I noticed in myself I have the slight yellow colour in the corner of my eyelids and since have noticed it's very common.

Thanks for any of your thoughts :)
