Here's a little background summary on my father's labs.

He is 61 years old, currently on metformin and is type 2 diabetic.

His doctor recommended he take carbimazole.

Is the doctor over-reacting here?!

T4 is high and TSH is low, so thyroid function is good,, but for some reason the body thinks converting T4 to T3 is not worth it. Sounds like stress, or deficiency in sugar, vitamins/minerals. I would not entertain the thought of carbimazole.

That is the role of the liver.
Additionally the gut also from T3S and T3AC from the liver.
The liver also converts T4 into rT3 which is excreted.
