An interesting TED talk "What doctors don't know about the drugs they prescribe", it's about how public and doctors are mislead by researchers by the fact that not all negative studies are being published, in fact just a minority are.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, a mind trick played to obscure the fact doctors have a duty (by Hippocratic oath, AND by legal obligation) of applying any treatment they judge beneficial, if no satisfactory treatment already exists.

They all royally ignore this deontological duty, in full knowledge.

And that's the real can of worms, instead of the one presented.

Monopolistic behaviour in the face of life threatening conditions, law be damned ( no help given to a person in danger).

The dirty little secret of the trade.

I'm sure Ted will soon talk about that...? ( not keeping my fingers crossed though)
