Hi guys,

Last January, i took one pill of 1mg Finasteride.

The days that followed were horrible, i experienced diarrea, anxiety, hot flushes, muscular pain, ED, depression and suicidal toughts

All those symptoms are lasting since 4 months.

Worse are the mental symptoms.

I've been struggling with panic attracks, agoraphobia since 10 years was on effexor 75 for so long, been cured with CBT, stopped effexor, took finasteride and crashed.

Here are my latest labs :

Total T : 271 ( vs 288 last month, vs 307 2 months ago)

SHBG : 18 (18-54 nmol/l)

E2 (normal assay) : 25 (27-52 pg/ml)

Free T (calculated) : 6.77 ng/dl (2.5%)

Bioavailable T (calculated) : 171 ng/dl (63.8%)

FSH : 1.5 UI/L (1.5-12.4)

LH : 3 UI/L (1.7-8.6)

TSH : 0.64 mUI/l (0.27-4.2)

FT3 : 3 ng/l (2.6-4.4)

FT4 : 11.7 ng/l ( 9.3-17.1)

CRP < 1

What can i do to go back to normal ?

Thanks

Hey man, that's called Post Finasteride Syndrome and it could balance itself out after about 6 months or you have to supplement your diet to nudge things back to normal... that stuff is a poison, i took it too... and working on recovering... chances are very high you will recover in time, but lab work doesn't really tell the tale... unfortunately

Some things to try :

To increase sleep and 5ar: 6G Glycine before bed , 3 tablespoons pine pollen
To help anxiety issues: 5aDHP from ideal labs from this forum
To help DHT levels: Androsterone from ideal labs or Super R Andro from IronMag Labs

recovery takes time... some are worst than others... but you will recover

You'll likely need more than trib but try to stay positive. It gets better, just in time and a little nudging here and there via supplements.

I think Pansterone and androsterone really helped me turn a corner. You'll need andro to help big time

Latest labs :

Total T : 276 ng/dl

Estradiol (ELISA assy) : 16 pg/ml (vs 19 last month) (22-50)

SHBG 21 (vs 18 last month) (18-54)

DHT : 1.44 nmol/l (vs 0.77 last month) (0.86-3.44)

FSH : 1.7 (vs 2) (2.1-18.6)

LH : 1 (vs 1.3) (1.7-11.2)

IGF1 : 260 vs 241 (94-246) Inhibine B : 351 pg/ml (80-325)

So my DHT is in range (on the lower end) but i still not feel good, still exhausted, depressed, on sick leave.

I was wondering if it is DHT that gives the sense of well being or Total T ?

Thanks

I would say that typically total T is the first bio marker to come up when the body starts functioning closer to optimal again. Improving 5AR and DHT can take longer in my personal experience. @nextjohns is on the $ though. We have all done something one time (or 100 times) that has negatively impacted our health. Focus on today and tomorrow not yesterday brother. Andro/Pan, methylene blue, coffee along with a good diet will get you fixed up.

Should i go the TRT route ?

No. TRT is not the optimal route. @tca300 has articulately stated this before and i wholeheartedly agree with him : Low T is 95% of the time attributed to severe or underlying hypothyroidism. Taking TRT often leads to excess estrogen in the cell. Having high T with Gyno imo is pretty worthless. Check @tyler's thread as well. He had testosterone of 100 and is now ripped and healthy as can be. This can easily be accomplished. You just need to get in a good rhythm of healthy behavior. Eat well, sleep well, etc.

What are your current symptoms? Also, forget about the finasteride. You started having low t symptoms it sounds like long before you took that pill.

Not going to lie to you, those favorable thyroid results are surprising. But as Peat has always said, hypothyroidism is not easy to diagnose. Temperature & Pulse are just as reliable as those labs. It is the entire picture put together. How is your pulse & temp when the weather is cold?

What supplements do you currently take, and what is your diet?

Pregnenolone powder

Supplemental DHT

Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D

Magnesium Oil

Niacinamide

coconut oil

Gelatin

Are sensible options for recovery

@Kiwiii this is great advice from @johnwester130 . I don't know how you are financially, but personally my suggestion is microdosing Pan/Andro or Preg/Andro, K2/D & niacinamide as a start. That is a great starter pack. Gelatin is a nice tool as well as the typical man eats way too much muscle meats. Tribulus is somewhat worthless...i used it when i was in college and there is no sense in messing around with it.

I also suggest not stressing about this (easier said than done - I know) but instead researching the study section, Generative energy podcast, etc. Don't be afraid of fruits or sugar, and eat plenty of carbs. Along with the supplements i recommended, you will feel better - this i am confident of!

although I also believe shedding and baldness are confused as being the same thing - they are not - it's 2 different things

Yes but i'm in France !

Dude you can get everything you want delivered to you in France. Go with a package forwarding service like Skypax. I live in Germany and I do the same to get around the hassle of customs.
