Why delete a thread, why dont edit a bad post?

Recently a useful thread for me was deleted, i agree that this thread can be maybe troll or have criminal content, but why dont simple edit the criminal words, and leave the topic? This topic really helped me, its simple a question, dont want to be rude to anyone.
