What is life like in Peru/Bolivia and high altitude?

It would take a lot of getting used to. The higher up you go, the harder it gets to breathe, and the less active you can be without becoming breathless. There’s probably a sweet spot in terms of altitude and health benefits, because beyond a certain point it’s just unpleasant.

I'd really like to see the altiplano. People there are poor but dignified I've been told. Based on my research weather is harsh- dry, cold, windy, strong sun with great temperature amplitude. In my experience >10 degrees amplitude can make you feel unwell, but it's more pronounced if you live in a cold area and go in and out of warm buildings as opposed to it gradually falling over the course of the day- is a neuralgia/headaches trigger for me.
