That's why you have to look at the source documents yourself. Ukraine had a worse famine several years before the events asserted by the "holodomor" narrative, why is this never discussed? Because the narrative was created and is maintained because it serves as anti-socialist and anti-collectivized farming propaganda which served to benefit the concentration of wealth, property, and economic power in the hands of a few - such as all the capitalist that profited from supporting the Nazis and the exploitation of the laboring masses

This long video helped me understand the long and complicated history of the two countries. I m only halfway through the video. Portion have subtitles that need to be read and so it takes a long time. Three countries if you include the US.

My favorite scene was the one in Piazza San Pietro in Rome at 56' (seagull = NATO / crow = Russia )
HOWEVER, reading other sources made me understand that in easter Ukraine the people are Russian and the referendum should have been respected. But obviously there is much more to this war than the people's interests.

Stone loves mobsters, except for the US ones (sarcasm). I am sure there will be no truth in the movie about the Brazilian mobster + how can anyone say anything good about Castro and Chavez? So how can I trust his documentary on Ukraine? Stone bases all his thinking on his hate for US interference in other countries, completely omitting that communists do the same game at the same time. Stone's docu on the Brazilian mobster will be launched just in time for the 2022 presidential elections in Brazil.

I am cutting back on the time I spend pondering the Ukraine for now. Sensory overload? I still have a back burner interest in that I want to try to anticipate how this event going to impact me and my family. Lots of unknowns.

I assumed Russian forces were not surprised by extent, power and intensity of ukr resistance given 8 years of Ukrainian arming and training with NATO and the nationalist segments of their armed forces.

Yes, they were surprised. Yes, the top military leadership of modern Russia are complete idiots. Yes, this war will drag on for many months. Many cities of Ukraine potentially will turn into a pile of garbage because of the fighting. There are already a lot of death on both sides.

Answering the question in the title. It is possible that the true motive is population reduction or distraction. The essence of the war looks something like this. Imagine Germany's war against Austria (due to the fact that a very anti-German government came to power in Austria), but Austria is morally being held back by NATO. Perhaps I don't have very correct ideas about these countries, and those who live there will correct me, but it seems to me that this is a true analogy.
