What Does Elevated Bilirubin Indicate ?

This is one of my only basic labs that has come up abnormal.

I mean ive had lots of immune labs come up abnormal but this is one of the only times a basic cbc and metabolic panel have turned up something abnormal

It was only slightly elevated (normal range under 1.2, it was 1.6)

According to webmd:

". . . it’s a sign that either your red blood cells are breaking down at an unusual rate or that your liver isn’t breaking down waste properly and clearing the bilirubin from your blood.

"Another option is that there’s a problem somewhere along the pathway that gets the bilirubin out of your liver and into your stool."

Says even very strenuous exercise can increase your bilirubin levels. Caffeine and aspirin can lower your levels.
