Weird Blood Test, ED/Low Energy At 18

Hello,

I am 18 and I have been introduced to Peat’s work a few months ago when looking for solutions to my erectile dysfunction (ED) which appeared a year ago along with low energy, low libido, hair loss and mild depression.

After 2 month of "strict" peating (no more than 2g of PUFA a day, only milk/safe fruits/occasional liver), I had more energy and my hair have almost stopped falling but I didn’t see any progress in the sexual area (no erections whatsoever) so I saw my GP and he gave me some blood test to do and these are the results :

- Estradiol : I only know it’s below 5.0 pg/mL so very very low (normal range is 11.3-43.2)
- Prolactin : 23.6 ng/mL (normal range is 4.04-15.2)
- Testosterone : 372 ng/L (normal range is 249-836)

When I came back to my GP with the results, he told me E2 and prolactin are not relevant to the mechanism of erectile function, that my T levels were normal (although very low as I am only 18) and he then gave me some Cialis!! He’s obviously a complete moron but I am very puzzled so I would appreciate some help.

I have every symptom of high estrogen and I read on this forum that prolactin was a good indicator of serotonin/estrogen reserves so I guess that my estrogen is in my tissues. What are your thoughts? How could I tackle this issue?

Also, I have tried lisuride and pansterone without much success : I didn’t notice anything from pansterone while lisuride makes me feel good and more creative but doesn’t improve my ED.

I am still learning English so please don’t mind my mistakes

Hi, just a couple general thoughts for you:
have you measured your thyroid and cholesterol levels? I seem to remember RP saying that often libido improves when low thyroid is brought to a healthier range. And if cholesterol is too low it is also problematic. (Not that I'm saying you have low thyroid or chol - just wondering if you checked them.) You could keep track of pulse and body temp to get an idea of how your thyroid is doing and if you are eating enough. Be especially careful if you use things that raise metabolism (such as coffee, thyroid, niacinamide to name a few) that you are eating enough before taking them so that they do not drop your blood sugar. if you crash it is better to give them up temporarily.
It is really important to eat frequent meals to avoid a stress response. It's not just what you're eating- if you don't eat enough iiuc you will be burning free fatty acids and blocking thyroid.
Was the prolactin measured before, during or after taking lisuride? Did you have it measured before and after you took it?
RP recommends using carrot, bamboo shoots and well cooked mushrooms to clean the bowel - this helps to prevent reabsorption of estrogen from the bowel.

Thanks for your answer! No I don’t have any measurements of thyroid or cholesterol but I definitely had very strong hypothyroid symptoms last winter (freezing hands/feet…) so even if it has been much better lately I consider trying thyroid

I took lisuride after the test and I haven’t checked prolactin since then (I will in a few weeks) but I don’t think it decreased a lot, or at least not as much as I want

I find it odd that I see improvements in my overall health but not in terms of libido. Do you have a supplement in mind from which I could benefit? Maybe high dose pregnenolone? My hormones are out of whack so It can't be much worse lol

@efcollin -
Sorry I don't have a supplement in mind, but there are a lot of libido threads you could check out on this forum and maybe some on the other problems you mentioned too. Just search for the thread topics you want to explore.
I remember someone somewhere on the forum saying libido was the fitst thing to go and the last to get fixed. I think maybe the body needs to spend its resources healing basic health issues first before it bothers with reproduction. I know some supps work really well, but i wouldn't assume you can neglect the basics and just find a magic bullet either.
Sorry I can't be more help! I wish you the best on your health journey!

Hi,
Do you want to spell out roughly how much you are eating? Approx calories, protein, carbs?
Have you had a go at running a typical or average day's diet through cronometer or similar to get some idea of what nutrition you are getting from your food? Check to see if thetre are any obvious gaps in micronutrients. From what you said above, I'm wondering if you are getting adequate zinc from your food, for instance. (Don't go by their calorie advice though - they are into restriction, not feeding recovering and growing young men.)
