Vitamin E Protects Immune System From Iron Overload

I think the study mentions only the antioxidant function of vitamin E since official medicine does not recognize any of its other properties like protecting against estrogen or PUFA toxicity. The actual study describes how the immune system is damaged by ferroptosis - an iron dependent apoptosis that affects primarily the immune system. Another point for Peat and the dangers of excess iron. Also, again as per Peat's writings, vitamin E protects against iron overload and this is probably its primary mechanism of action within the study, not its trite and overemphasized antioxidant properties.
This matches well another study I posted that showed vitamin E in doses of 600mg per day for a human allows an organism to overcome bacterial pneumonia on its own and without any use of antibiotics.

He finds that people with a normal level of health and a balanced diet shouldn’t need vitamin supplements. But a supplement of vitamin E or other liposoluble antioxidants could well make sense in the event of oxidative stress, which can arise in everyday situations such as an infection or exposure to UV light. Patients with certain neurodegenerative diseases or diabetes suffer massive oxidative stress, and in these cases antioxidants could be a worthwhile addition to their treatment. How high the dose should be is something Kopf cannot say on the basis of the results of this study. It is not something they analysed, given that the research was conducted using a mouse model.

This is definetly an interesting study, it looks like the high oxidative stress is one of the other mechanisms in which iron overload impairs immune system and ability to respond to infections and cancer,

It gets so confusing because its well established iron overload amplifies everything related to endotoxin etc. And nitric oxide, but recently on a “travis corner” post, travis or someone else cant remember who, shared some scripts from a study showing iron depletion impaired the immune system and enhanced things like listeria infection because a certain amount of iron is needed to produce ROI or something to defend against the pathogens.

But in another thread on the forum, someone stated mild iron deficiency is very protective against malaria and some severe infections, and some people were also talking about how donating blood impairs the immune system because of iron reduction so this stuff on iron is just getting so confusing,

Im more convinced and on the side that iron overload is more of a common issue and more serious,

Peat mentioned theyve used pure milk diets to make animals or rats deficient in iron but im not sure that would be enough by itself to do that in humans who have been eating iron fortified diets extensively,

Maybe years on such a diet for humans would do this but rats have a shorter lifespan therefore is likely much faster to produce reduction in iron levels with a milk diet for them,

Do you know anything about how a mild iron deficiency may actually impair the immune system instead of actually providing resistance against infections? Or is this only in very severe cases of iron deficiency?

I mean with iron overload you have the issue of excess “food” for microbes and pathogens, the oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation factors, and redox inducing effect when combined with high estrogen,

Im also convinced that most people with a weak immune system, its likely caused by iron or metal overload (besides hypothyroidism) but because iron and most metals all stimulate microbial reproduction when added to a bacterial culture, at least what ive seen from studies, and it usually shows that removing the iron stunts the replication of bacteria,

There was one study i came across on cranberry juice similar to the one you posted on here, very interesting.
