Vitamin D, daily low dose or infrequent high dose?

I've had bad experiences with Vitamin D supplementation in general, both with and without Vit K2, which I suspect is because oral Vit D massively increases calcium absorption and kidney strain. However I've always taken it in daily small doses, whereas most successful studies use infrequent high dosing (like 50 000 IU every 14 days).

Anyone tried both frequent and infrequent dosing of Vit D and what was your experience?

Oral supplementation does nothing noticeable for me. Daily topical application of about 5,000 IU immediately and dramatically improves digestion I would guess through TLR4 antagonism.

Interesting, what formulation are you using for topical application, any kind of oil-based supplement works?

I’d agree regarding oral/topical. I apply 10000iu d3/3 mg k2 to the navel and have only noticed benefits from this method.

I’ve been using this cheap brand I found in my local grocery store dissolved in sunflower oil.
I didn’t get much effect from the highly concentrated products dissolved in MCT oil. I’m not sure why. Maybe it takes more oil to spread it out over a larger surface area to increase absorption. I apply mine to my forearms.

Yeah it behaves radically different for me topically. What product do you use?

Topical D3 gives me tendinite-like aches on the same area 10minutes after application, and it goes away after several hours

Tried 15 000 iu topically daily and my Vitamin D levels like halfed in two months. Orally is the only thing that worked for me.

Interesting because I'm sure I read an account from someone on this forum who like doubled their vitamin D in two months with transdermal vitamin D.

We're all so different!

I see it contains orange flavor and rosmarinic acid as ingredients. I’m not sure what that will do topically or if it might irritate skin.

Good point! I’ll return it if it irritates.

I’m using now foods-10000iu capsules. I just puncture the capsule and fill my b-button.
