Timeline:

Sept. 24: Started developing symptoms

Sept. 26: Sought medical care

Sept. 28: Admitted to the hospital and placed in isolation

Sept. 30: Patient's blood tested positive for Ebola virus

That's the really loosy-goosy part in the timeline. From the accounts I've read, it seems sore throat and headache maybe a little nausea onset several days before the victim gets nervous. And then they (being from Africa) reach for the anti-malarials. When the anti-malarials don't help, then they begin to suspect EVD. So what stage was this guy in on the 24th? Was he in the "my head hurts and my throat is a little sore" stage, or was he in the "I think I've got malaria, I'd better go to the hospital and get some quinones"? Or was he at the "quinones haven't helped, I'd better see what's wrong" stage?

Doctor boards flight in Ebola protection suit to protest CDC

Doctor boards flight in Ebola protection suit to protest CDC

Two days after a man in Texas was diagnosed with Ebola, a Missouri doctor Thursday morning boarded a plane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport dressed in full protection gear to protest what he called mismanagement of the crisis by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Gil Mobley checked in and cleared airport security wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, boots and a hooded white jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words, “CDC is lying!”

“If they’re not lying, they are grossly incompetent,” said Mobley, a microbiologist and emergency trauma physician from Springfield, Mo.

Mobley said the CDC is “sugar-coating” the risk of the virus spreading in the United States.

Re: Confirmed Ebola Cases & Related News

Well, at least they came clean.

Dallas Hospital Alters Account, Raising Questions on Ebola Case

On Thursday, the hospital, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, released a statement essentially blaming a flaw in its electronic health records system for its decision to send the patient — Thomas E. Duncan, a Liberian national visiting his girlfriend and relatives in the United States — home the first time he visited its emergency room, Sept. 25. It said there were separate “workflows” for doctors and nurses in the records so the doctors did not receive the information that he had come from Africa.

But on Friday evening, the hospital effectively retracted that portion of its statement, saying that “there was no flaw” in its electronic health records system. The hospital said “the patient’s travel history was documented and available to the full care team in the electronic health record (E.H.R.), including within the physician’s workflow.”

Texas Wants 2nd Possible Ebola Patient Put in Protective Custody

DALLAS (CN) - Texas wants a second patient "reasonably suspected of being infected" with Ebola put into protective custody in Dallas.

Dr. David L. Lakey, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, filed a motion for a temporary order of protective custody Monday in Dallas County Court.

The unidentified patient, sued as "M.W.L.," is "reasonably suspected of being infected with a communicable disease (Ebola) that presents an immediate threat to public health," the 4-page motion states.

Connecticut declares Ebola 'state of emergency'
State health commissioner granted quarantine power

HARTFORD, Conn. —Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has signed an order that gives the state's public health commissioner the ability to quarantine anyone she believes may have been exposed to the Ebola virus.

Malloy says Tuesday's order is precautionary and designed to ensure that the state is prepared to deal with any suspected Ebola cases.

He says it also will allow for a more coordinated response to any potential case of Ebola.

The order declares a public health emergency, giving Commissioner Jewel Mullen the authority to issue quarantine orders. That authority usually rests with local public health directors.

Mullen says there is no reason to believe anyone in the state is infected or at risk of infection.
