Topical Vitamin D3 From Cod Liver, Lanolin, Or Lichen. Which Is Best?

My doctor recently told me I'm deficient in vit D. I have a bottle of cod liver D3 in sunflower oil that I bought before discovering Ray Peat. Would there be any harm in using that topically on my shins? Would the sunflower oil absorb into my body?

I don't really like ordering supplements online, but my local health foods store has vit D3 drops in coconut oil sourced from lichen, which is a type of moss. Should I buy it?

I wouldn't recommend topical application of highly polyunsaturated fats.

I personally take oral vitamin D gel caps in coconut oil few times a week and spit out the gel cap. Based on your actual vitamin D level, there are calculation formulas to figure out your recommended daily / weekly dose

Is lanolin from sheep?
I think I use that. Cod liver oil seems like a no-no because it’s from fish

I found a bottle of lanolin D3 drops in coconut oil and I'm very pleased with it. I guess this thread is over.

Anyone know anything about Lichen-derived Vitamin D3? I am taking this one that has a dose of .5g of vitamin K. Not sure if Lichen-based stuff is good or not.
