That's so interesting, I've been wearing jogging pants and basketball shorts every day of my life since I stopped caring about nice clothes. Jeans never made sense to me, they are so restrictive. But I think that this also shows a person's resistance to stress; when I was younger it would be less bothersome to me but now I need the best comfort I can get. It could also be that nowadays I actually care about my comfort and wellbeing; people with auto-destructive tendencies and those that get their energy/motivation from stress hormones would probably not make a conscious effort to wear comfortable clothes.

Self-conscious thinking is stressful; however, it could be that self-conscious people wear tight clothes, where tight clothing reinforces their psychological conditioning.
