The Powerful Effect Of A Relaxed, Deep Voice

I have taken a different approach to developing my speaking voice. A strong (powerful) relaxed voice was my goal. My approach to strengthen my voice was similar to a body builder who wants strong biceps; perform exercises that strengthen the relevant muscles. Here the muscles to strengthen are the vocal cords. The deepness of my voice was not my concern. Having strength in the upper and lower ranges was my goal. To achieve that goal, by necessity I had to strengthen my voice in its entire range. Hence, my speaking voice is more relaxed.

Back in 1988 I spent $68 ( amazon keeps track of my purchases) on a book/audio program for singing. I practiced every workday in my car during my 20-minute drive in the morning. It took over a year to achieve may goal. When I travel for work or pleasure or simply do not practice for a few months, it takes about a week for my voice to expand back to its full range.

I have attached the introduction mp3 for you. I find his voice to be naturally relaxed, which was my goal.
Amazon goes back on tracking your purchases to 88 ? Wow

The modern day voice coach to the stars is Roger Love. I used his audios about 5+ years ago and they definitely made a difference when using them. The voice warmups alone are worth the investment.

I'd love to have a voice like Vin Deisal, or Henry Kissinger - without the accent.

Larwence Fishbourne, Hulk Hogan, and other males born under the astrological sign of Leo typically have much resonance in their voice, but not so much the women

Mike Rowe has the best male voice I’ve heard. it’s all about relaxation. Any bacterial growth will ruin my speaking ability and confidence. clean bowels, good vitamin D, lower starch, coffee and milk are what help me relax the most

Sometimes my voice gets so dark and deep it startles me. :grin I think nicotine can induce this. maybe dopamine increasing substances in general? Mental and physical relaxation are also very important for a voice like the one described in the OP in my experience.

Alcohol definitely has a profound effect on my voice. I rarely drink, average a couple times a year, and the next morning I have a golden baritone. Many singers (Morrison, Sinatra, Elvis) literally became alcoholic partly to sustain their baritones. If a pharm company could ever duplicate and patent the mechanism it it would be as big as viagra. It's been well studied, people believe and obey men with deep voices. Women go nuts when my voice is deep, especially in the sack.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0963233920/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is long out of print and most of the used copies clearly state that they do not have the "accessories" (meaning no audio disc/program). Today, you can purchase a new copy at Amazon for a low as $592. I do not think there is anything magical about this particular program; but if you can find it reasonably priced I would consider purchasing it. Other recommendations in this thread might be just a good.

This is so true and underrated. And I can relate to everything you say you experience with other people. A clear voice commands instant respect, interest or even fear. With a high pitch voice people are inclined to treat you like ***t. I often have this problem due to build up tension/anger/frustration and whenever I'm able to vent off some of these emotions my voice gets strong almost instantly. Also, when my voice is clear my confidence goes up too but when my voice is high pitched I feel embarrased and try to avoid talking to people knowing how they react (which is a cliché each and everytime).

I have my own (controversial) method and that is screaming (growling) as hard as I can 10-15 times into a pillow before going out of bed in the morning. This results in the kind of voice you describe for the next 24-48 hours and subsequent 'positive' treatment. But you can only do this on occassion otherwise you destroy your voice for several days.

That being said, it's almost pathetic how interpersonal relations are positively affected by things like this, but it is what it is.

Exactly! We humans are soo affected by things that are sooo easy to fake...

I think this is becoming a huge evolutionary disadvantage that slows down the advancement of mankind. Brilliant minds with brilliant ideas are not listened to, gets shut down and ostracised just because they don't have a pretty face, powerful voice or are not confident in social situations.

And stupid people with very stupid ideas are often in charge, ruining the lives of other people just because they have pretty face, powerful voice and are confident.

I really hope evolution weed this behavior out over time.
