Talking about relatives turning on each other, I recall reading a book about 20th century history that recounted horrific incidents in WW2 where families of Poles and Ukrainians would savagely turn on each other, even within a family. In one incident, the Polish husband sawed in half his Ukrainian wife. (Or was it the other way around?) Speaking as someone entirely of east European blood, I can say with authority that east Europeans don't mess around when they get angry enough at each other. I once saw my grandmother (a very big and strong woman) about to stab to death my mother (her only child). Fortunately, she backed off.
