Two weeks taurine supplementation reversed diabetic conduit vessel abnormalities to control values, as assessed by endothelial-dependent dilatation. This most likely resulted from improvements in bioavailability of nitric oxide due to increases in endothelial nitric oxide synthase.

Oxidative stress lowers eNOS, so lowering oxidative stress can increase NO. Cocoa can also increase low NO in people with hypertension.

Taurine is a sulfur amino acid.

Excessive NO being harmful doesn't mean eNOS is inherently harmful - high-output iNOS is the biggest concern.

Just wanted to report that starting Taurine (about 3 grams per day) seems to have restored consistent nocturnal erections / morning wood which have been rare for me at my age (early 40's). I've only been doing it for about 3 weeks, so it remains to be be seen if it will keep up. Also, TMI, but I've had 3 or 4 nocturnal emissions last week. At my age, I usually get 1 or 2 a month, maximum. The only change I made this month was Taurine. I'm one of those weird cases where I have high testosterone (800-1200 ng/dl), but low libido, and few erections. This eNOS phenomenon might be an explanation. For such a cheap supplement, it's kind of a miracle. Too early to say. Let's see if this phenomenon continues. Libido is still pretty low, but I think that's more psychological than physical in my case.
