I can't get any of natural progesterone. There are some tablets with synthetic progesterone in my country - 50 mg (lutein - progesterone). I would dissolve it in liquid vit E (orally take) - will this have the same effect as natural progesterone? I know it's more toxic but I need it for my uncle - he has cancer and medicine is helpless in his case.

If it is real progesterone - ie the same as the molecule our bodies make (bio-identical), its OK for it to be synthetic. The progesterone in progest-e is synthetic. The synthetic progestins are different molecules, and they may have some progesterone-like effects, but they also have other effects, sometimes more like estrogen. Peat does not recommend them. I don't know about risks/benefits of the lutein part.

Thanks. So if it says that it is progesterone (lutein is a common name for progesterone in my country) it means that it is not progestin?

I'm sorry, I don't know how the word lutein is used where you are. When I looked up lutein and progesterone on wikipedia in English, it looks as though they have different formulae and molecular structures.

There are lutein (for eyes - this is something else), but I think word "luteina" is only in polish, and it means (the common name) progesterone in that language. I means of 50 mg under the tongue tablets.

There are pharmaceutical preparations of "natural" bio-identical progesterone that are "micronized", like Prometrium and Utrogestan. Theoretically, if the label clearly says progesterone, it would not be a progestin.

I do not know if the brand you mention is a trade name in your location for micronized progesterone. With the name similarity, please check to make sure it is NOT a form a luteinizing hormone, which is a different product.

Luteinizing hormone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Progesterone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Progesterone has very poor pharmacokinetics (including low bioavailability and a half-life of only 5 minutes) when taken orally unless micronized. As such, it is sold in the form of oil-filled capsules containing micronized progesterone for oral use (Utrogestan, Prometrium, Microgest), termed oral micronized progesterone (OMP). Progesterone is also available in the forms of vaginal or rectal suppositories or pessaries (Cyclogest), transdermally-administered gels or creams (Crinone, Endometrin, Progestogel, Prochieve), or via injection (Progesterone, Strone)."

Thank you very much. The leaflet of this drug says it's progesterone, taking route - under the tongue, half life - 6-7 h.
