Yeah but its inferior in terms of being able to eat as much of it. Let's say from all your fruits you're only getting about 300g of carbohydrates per day, for a total of 2000-2500 calories. You're completely full and can't eat more fruits. You also cannot possibly carry and prepare more fruits per day logistically. Yet you still need that extra 200g of sugar to have maximum energy throughout the day and reach 3000+ calories. That's where sugar comes in.
