Sunlight and serotonin

I've read a few of Ray Peat's articles on serotonin and it seems he feels there is not minimum amount needed, that the less you can have, the better. However, he also seems to be a huge fan of bright light. Numerous studies have shown bright lights and especially sunlight increase serotonin in a dose dependent manner. Thoughts on this? Is sunlight/brit ought depressing and inflammatoy?

He has already addressed your concern. He recommends avoiding sunlight when
UV ray is high, that is usually around noon. There are charts that shows how
color temperature of sunlight changes through out the day.
You are making a lot of assumptions on what RP recommends.
He recommends orange and red light for light therapy.
Here is a thread on light therapy.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. Without the UV, how does he recommend you get your vitamin D?

He recommends getting sunlight when there is less UV and more red light. It is the ratio of
orange+Red to UV+ blue that matters more. With a better ratio one is getting the protection of red light while making vitamin D from UV.

Sun exposure is also associated with higher IL-6, probably because of high ratio of UV to red and infrared light.

At times, I think Peat takes D on his skin (feet I think).
