The next time you tuck into a protein rich dinner, it may be a bad idea to hold off on the sugary drinks, unless you want to crash and pass out...

the study says sugar sweetened beverages reduce body heat and reduce the metabolization of fat

But the abstract's conclusion is not really on point and seems to be tacked on in order to be PC:

One implication of the results is that the body’s reduced metabolic efficiency after drinking a sugar-sweetened beverage can lead to a greater tendency to make and store fat. Our findings provide further insight into the potential role of sugar-sweetened drinks in the etiology of obesity.

This is just speculation and designed to say to the funders and the world, of COURSE sugar is bad for you.

But actually, isn't this more of a Randle cycle demonstration?

Other studies show that consuming more sugar beverages raises metabolism and increases thermogenesis.

It is likely the glucose component of the sugar that is acting to reduce body heat by lowering metabolism of fat,

fructose is the most thermogenic sugar and raises trigs once liver glycogen is replete.

Doesn't glucose also suppress body heat by suppressing cortisol?

Not all body heat is good. Not all "cold" is bad.
