I see pretty regularly in the literature that sucrose tends to raise LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol while leaving the triglycerides unchanged.

LDL cholesterol has been given an unfair reputation as being bad when in fact it isn't. LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol have been shown to be associated with lower rates of dementia.

Consuming a certain amount of sucrose may actually protect the brain from age-related dementia rather than exacerbate it as doctors like Dr. Perlmutter claim since it raises LDL and total cholesterol.

Can you provide a few examples? Most studies using larger amounts of sucrose do show that it increases triglycerides quite significantly.
