Been struggling with my recovery lately as my insomnia is severe. Last night decided to eat half a water melon before bed to see if it would help me relax enough to go to sleep. Had a horrendous nights sleep and also woke up very weak and shaky should I have tried to balance the sugar in some way? Or do you think it's a negative reaction to the watermelon?

Watermelon has a lot of water. That's ideal source of carbs and fluids when is hot or when you doing some physical work and when you sweat a lot. But not ideal before bed and also it is good to have at least protein with those carbs and ideally also with some fat. A lot of people eats before bed ice cream(sugar, fat, protein) or I like hard cheese with honey. :)

ea Yura is right, melons are a bit watery, they dilute metabolism saying youre at baseline. Best is to add some sugar to them or have with ...a lil before or after a denser food
