It's specifically this type of 'us vs them' thinking that leads you (pun intended) nowhere.

I bet 'you' was playfully mocking sugar while being 'paleo', and mocking 'paleo' while being 'vegetarian', and mocking 'vegeterian' while being 'vegan frutarian'.

Throw out the primitive 'us vs them' mentality and if you're going to mock others then do it through results -- get healthy, lean, fit, muscular, focused etc.

The problem is the definition of addiction.

We should be cautious about the "divide and rule" thing used by governments, big corporations etc to maintain control. And yeah, if there´s just a bunch of different diets with blogs and "followers" fighting against each other, then the big corporations will be better able to maintain their power. The goal of reaching the truth through sound and openminded discussion will be distorted. Do any of these discuss the real harm done by big industry in the way Peat does for example? Has any of the adherents read an important book like Melody Petersens "our daily meds" (mentioned by Peat on several occasions)?

https://web.archive.org/web/20110204220 ... e_and_Rule

In politics and sociology, divide and rule (derived from Latin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. In reality, it often refers to a strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful, since it is difficult to break up existing power structures.

▪ creating or encouraging divisions among the subjects in order to forestall alliances that could challenge the sovereign.
▪ aiding and promoting those who are willing to cooperate with the sovereign.
▪ fostering distrust and enmity between local rulers.
▪ encouraging frivolous expenditures that leave little money for political and military ends.

Clearly, you don't understand Reddit. It's circlejerk or die. If you question the dogma in any subreddit, you just get downvoted and ignored. Reddit itself encourages the us vs them mentality.

I've been banned multiple times from /r/vegan, /r/paleo and /r/nutrition for questioning the dogma, without insult, offense or being rude. Just saying "ya know, maybe x isn't so bad" or "ya know, maybe x isn't so good". Bam downvoted, do it a few more times, "you have banned".

What has my understanding of reddit got to do with your 'us vs them' mindset-type posts?

And because you said reddit has an 'us vs them' mindset, you should too?

Why do you think? Because the OP post is linking to reddit?

I don't have an us vs them mentality, why so acrimonious?

You're missing the point of my post.

You could have linked to any website, it doesn't matter.

My point is that you're simply mocking other people for their dietary choice for no rational reason. It's 'us vs them'. 'Peat vs Paleo'. Which is no different than 'vegetarian' vs 'paleo', 'playstation' vs 'xbox' or 'microsoft' vs 'apple'. When asked, people who favour on or the other, can't tell you why, they just enjoy being in one of the groups and dissing the other.

You come across as just a fanboy dissing the other side to feel included in your current group -- the primitive 'us vs them' mentality.

No, I'm having fun joking around and mocking people for posting ridiculous stuff.

Seriously, you need to get over yourself. :rofl Think you're Freud or something?

Carl Jung with a dash of Peat, actually.

Your post history says otherwise, and with your explanation that you've been banned on reddit, it's clear your came over here to vent.

It's more fruitful to have an investigative mind when looking at groups to see the truth behind them otherwise you'll just end up blindly following whichever group is the biggest and/or has the sexiest appeal, my young Padawan.

This is like saying sex is more addictive than porn.

You must live on omega 3 enriched salmon, almonds, and raw steak, like our ancestors, and limit evil carbs.

Amends? There was nothing to amend.

Despite your 'shitflinging', my points still hold =-)

I can't see how a true Jungian could be here. Jung's views are totally opposite of what we talk here.

You have some studies about that?
:D
You haven't been engaging in excessive breathing, have you? Best to take withdrawal slowly - don't try to do it cold turkey, the effects can be severe. People often find it difficult to give it up completely, but many find they can reduce their breathing over time if they are determined.

:)

Actually, my point was that I don't think it counts as addiction to need and crave the essentials of life. I think craving sugar is more like craving oxygen than it is like craving cocaine.
