Hey all,

I finally got some lab test results back.
Just a quick background about my health.

-My Thyroid hormones are very well and truly in the upper end of the range (Borderline Hyperthyroid).

-Already measured LOW Aldosterone levels.

My main symptoms are:
-Dizziness/Low BP
-Craving salt like a manic man.
-Can't hold fluids well.
-Feeling like I struggle to cope.

So after completing the DUTCH test, here are my results:

So just a heads up to everyone trying to lower cortisol, until you get a blood test, you will never know where you are at. I train super hard and have been focusing on lowering cortisol through various supps/herbs, but I guess too little is also bad.

Agreed. Further, stop over supplementing and blindly trying to manipulate a stressed body without proper minimum bloodwork.

Enough of the regurgitation, every individual body is different.

Are you saying that your test results suggest low cortisol? Your waking cortisol is near the upper limit and an hour later you are still mid range or slightly higher. Seems like your cortisol levels are fine.

Your cortisol looks great. Sounds more like you need more solid foods less training.

I doubt most people who believe they have high cortisol have low blood pressure. They probably have elevated blood pressure. So not sure what your point is

This is a good thread. I think “cortisol” gets blamed for too many things. The deeper you go into this Selye-Peat-Szent-Gyorgi paradigm, the more you realize how deep the unity is between different kinds of stress. The essential similarity of the degenerative processes makes it very difficult in practice, for me anyways, to differentiate between the various hormonal imbalances by symptoms alone. Testing is essential.

So you've been focusing on lowering cortisol through various supps/herbs. You get a blood test. Blood test shows your cortisol is upper range upon waking, and lower range at night. Is this not the natural rhythm? Looks like focusing on lowering cortisol helped you if anything. I'm not understanding the thread title.

Meanwhile, DHEA looks to be on the low side. Perhaps sex hormones are out of wack? Have you checked them out?

My Testosterone levels are high (462 pmol/l), DHT in normal range too.

Again, thank you for acknowledging this.
Do you also agree my metabolised cortisol is way too low?

The metabolised cortisol is incredibly low. I am in touch with a functional medicine practitioner, to work out where it should be.

Why are you artificially lowering cortisol? You're doing the same thing as mainstream medicine. Are you addressing the cause of your elevated cortisol? You should not mess too much with your hormones. They are your body's way of communicating between the various systems.

Low BP, dizziness, craving salt, you didn't say if you are thirsty but it makes me thing of something going on with vasopressin (also known as ADH), one very common symptom from the cascade of inflammatory cytokines that arise in response to water damaged buildings. Rarely does cortisol go way too high or too low, but regulation often gets messed up.

Stop writing authoritarian thread titles telling people what to do.
LOL

But OP has a point, I’m tired of people here claiming that they increased their Testosterone or lowered they Cortisol because they felt something...if they accidentally take a viagra and get boners easily they will assume that their T is up and mislead with their claims
