This is a bit early to tell, but I think low starch makes me feel amazing energy-wise, negative thoughts just disappear, I feel like I'm on a constant dopamine high. However, I have to eat some starch (rice, potatoes) at dinner, otherwise I can't fall asleep. I get high adrenaline from eating only fruits.

Pro's of starch:
  • extra boost in strength in the gym
  • muscle glycogen topped off, muscles look fuller.
  • help immensely with deep sleep
  • great source of calories for those on high caloric intakes.
Cons of starch:
  • perma-bloating
  • mild depression
  • low-energy
  • slow digestion
  • dermatitis

I feel the exact same way. When I get my carbs primarily from sugar my gym performance suffers but I feel better mentally and have more energy in general. Starch gives me much better pumps, performance, vascularity... it’s essential for me who trains 6x a week, but with worse mental clarity and worse gut health, and also blood sugar problems

I have found higher amylopectin based starch (jasmine rice, red skinned creamy potatoes) to be much better digested and less problematic than amylose (basmati, regular potato)
