The similarities as to what each guy recommends very, very similar.

Both are strongly anti-gluten.
Both are pro-thyroid (except Wallach treats it with selenium and bladderwrack, not hormones)
Both forbid PUFA's.
Both are pro saturated fats.
Both are pro cholesterol being over 200.
Both are pro eggs.
Both are huge fans of the calcium-phosphorus ratio being in correct balance.
Both are very pro gelatin.

There's more but I don't feel like typing it all.

Really the only differences are in Ray's recommendations about sugar, and things like aspirin (which Wallach is adamantly against).

It's funny, Joel Wallach on his radio program recommended someone take 1 packet of Knox Gelatin in 8 oz of Orange juice at breakfast, with 1200 mg of calcium, with Vitamin D and K.

Wallach of course, sells his own supplements and makes a lot of money from that. Ray Peat doesn't seem all too interested in money, but if he was, I'm sure he would sell supplements too.

I think both guys are way ahead of most others in the health field.

I think they're the same exact age too. I believe they're both 73, and appear way younger than they are. Both guys look like they're in their early 60's, not 70's.

If abundant RIPE fruit were available and eaten on a regular basis, you would not need extra sugar or aspirin. It's actually hard to come by, so you have to get it supplemented...hence sugar and aspirin. IMO ;)

One is showing honnesty, integrity, and genius.

The other is one of the most loud, obstined, desingenius hard working crooks brought to decredibilise alternative health that (pharma)money could buy.

There's no comparaison.

I don't know Wallach but one thing is clear - Ray Peat is not motivated by greed and that is, unfortunately, quite rare.
He just would not sell out, despite the very real danger he knew he was placing himself in doing what he does. I salute him.

How is JW greedy? Dead Doctors Don't Lie is an important work that breaks through the corpse-like conditioning of the masses. So he has some MLM stuff going on- big whoop. We all would have heard of RP YEARS ago if he had written something like DDDL. Also it appears to be part of the marketing machine of the last several decades..... RP opted out and none of us are better off for it.

Ray Peat continued his research and work despite intense investigation and scrutiny by the CIA and the closure of Blake College in Mexico. He neither opted out nor sold out. He found a means to help people and effect change upon a deranged culture controlled by a greedy elite.

He is one brave, honorable man. I wonder how many would have made the same courageous choices he has done.
Sadly, probably not many. Ray Peat cannot effect change by himself. For there to be significant, permanent change, there has to also be a "buy in" by a majority of humanity, most of whom are attached to their cell phone and addicted to entertainment.

He chose to teach nutrition courses because he saw a glimmer of hope. He saw that some people were willing to change if they could be shown how to transform ill health into good health.

“More than 50 years ago, I realized that the US culture had become effectively totalitarian, with decorations, and even the decorations were being fixed by the specialists (the Congress for Cultural Freedom, for example). I went through a series of graduate studies and projects looking for places where reality could influence the culture, rather than being obliterated by it. The academic culture, though, was rapidly changing for the worse. Over a period of a few years I happened to see a few people recover immediately from what doctors had considered incurable problems, using simple and inexpensive methods, and then I realized that some people were willing to discard their old ideas when those conflicted with useful facts, especially when the useful facts could save their life. I started doing evening and weekend classes in nutrition and endocrinology, seeing health as a way to get reality into the culture. My newsletter grew out of the classes, and that led to answering mail, which is cheaper and easier on the internet.”
— Ray Peat

There was always and still remains a method to his genius.

There were a couple of very odd responses to this post. Joel Wallach likes making money, Ray Peat doesn't. Neither guy is wrong for doing so. Some people like to live the high life, some people don't. Doesn't make either one a bad person.

I have been a huge Joel Wallach fan back since about 1998. Getting handed the "Dead Doctors Don't Lie" cassette was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Joel Wallach changed my opinion about health, vitamins, minerals, and mainstream medicine. Everything I have done in my life related to health, I credit Joel Wallach for helping me to initially see the light. He is a pioneer in the field of Alternative Medicine. So what if he likes to make money? Do you realize how much wealth Youngevity has produced? I believe 20,000+ distributors are currently making at least a 5-figure salary with his "devilish" MLM company. His company has provided families with an opportunity to take top notch supplements, and earn a 2nd income, or replace their current income entirely, doing something they love.

Yes, his supplements are expensive. That's MLM for you. The products are marked up 200% to pay the distributors their incomes and bonuses. That's just the nature of the business. The money has to come from somewhere.

Joel Wallach is a great man, and I urge anyone unfamiliar with his work to read his books and listen to his radio show.

Jaket, are there any free publications from Joel that outline his dietary advice?

Agreed. I don't know much about this Wallach fellow, but as long as he's not making profit off harming people and selling supplements in line with what he believes there is nothing wrong with what he's doing.

I would say there's plenty wrong he does to people when he takes them for a ride and claims absurdities like "all diseases are caused by mineral deficiencies".

He's a disingenious salesman that tells people what they want to hear (ie all diseases are preventable/ curable, one can live for 100 years and more, medical doctors are criminals,...) , using every marketing tool available to deceive those not bright enough to see through the deception.

This guy is particularly vile as he's gotten as low as claiming he's been nominated for a nobel prize ( actually, he was nominated by the very same naturopathic association he got his naturopathic MD degree from).

Wallach has the complexion of a crook.

Seriously.

Seeing that picture immediately reminded me of that actor who plays the Stapler guy in Office Space :p
