Thanks for that article.
I thought it had been widespread knowledge for years that exposure to blue green algal blooms had neurotoxic effects? Around here we seem to get warnings and bans on swimming and gathering shellfish from wherever the current seasons blooms are, warnings to keep children and dogs away from contaminated areas, and occasional stories of dogs succumbing. But maybe they hadn't connected the obvious acute effects with the slower chronic effects before? Or maybe there are other known toxins in these blooms that they attribute the acute dangers too?
