this came up in another thread. Should you take a break from aspirin sometimes?

I'm kind of in favor of taking a break from every supplement at times. But what about aspirin?

I'm sometimes doing 2g per day these days. Today I didn't take any. Just wondering what the effects are if I don't take a break.

I used aspirin 2 years and never had any breathing problems, then I quit after I read it could cause leaky gut. I developed lung inflammation/asthma during the time I quit aspirin. Needless to say I take my aspirin daily again.

I personally believe, after reading a couple of papers, that taking short breaks would be prudent for the G.I tract's sake. That is because prostaglandins, according to those studies, are required for G.I membrane repair. I take soluble aspirin (the full reaction with sodium bicarb.), which is much milder and safer for G.I tract, but I still try to take short breaks every couple of weeks and let prostaglandins do the job.
