I'm really wondering, should I keep "Peating" even though I don't really enjoy eating the food? Ive been assuming that it's important to eat what you crave, but I crave bread and Cheetos.

I eat tons of cheese even though I don't like it that much. Orange juice, milk, gelatin, ice cream, yogurt, apples, eggs, coconut oil, decaf coffee, white sugar. I know bananas are supposed to increase serotonin but I haven't noticed any negative effects and I don't know what else to eat except more of the other stuff. Bread seems to make me feel pretty crappy.

I'm stressed as hell anyway. I think I'm not digesting food because I have this burning that doesn't go away even if I feel full. I can't seem to find a taurine supplement where I live.

Strict peating is silly, especially if you're not enjoying it. You're probably causing more detriment than benefit worrying about food like this. Avoid PUFA to a reasonable extent, eat what you feel like eating as long as it isn't some processed poison.

I was gluten free for 5-6 years and then started eating once every 2-3 months and now eat once
or twice a week. This is the only food i crave strongly. I believe something is very special about wheat
bread. You can eat peaty bread by eating traditionally made sourdough bread or make your own bread
by soaking flour for 12+ hours. I feel really bad if i eat bread twice a day. Modern breads are really
problematic for health with high gluten and without proper fermentation. I feel relatively better
with pasta, which is made of semolina, that is low in gluten and lower GI than white bread.

Cheetos tastes great cause they add MSG. You do not have to be peaty to pick suitable foods for you.
If something you eat causes symptoms then it is just obvious that you need to avoid that food.
That is also a peaty guideline, avoid food that irritates your gut.

I love orange juice but OJ does not love me. I do not drink OJ and i am peating to the fullest.
I think food like liver once or twice a week can be forced for the sake of nutrients but
you can not eat something you do not like everyday. I also did not drink milk for first 2 years of
peating, because i was lactose intolerant. I also avoid commercial gelatin, can't tolerate it.

I do not feel very happy when I overdo the hydrolyzed gelatin and drink a lot of fluids.

I've been traveling for two weeks and interestingly, I feel better eating some bread.
Only problems is when it's made using commercial yeast, I get a little bad breath.

I feel much less stressed away from the busy city life, no matter what I eat or drink.

On my trip I met a 60yo Moroccan who's as strong as a camel and thinks health resides in bread and Argan oil.

Mittir, glad to see you back again on the forum.

no way man...strong as a camel? what a beast

something like bread...if you had maybe 1-2 servigns on top of a normal peat diet you'd be able to handle without much or any serotonin, but ..its lacking minerals man, and imbalanced. However the main recommended peat diet of OJ and milk is too hypotonic, so say a couple pieces of bread would be like...good for making it overall near isotonic. Too much fluid is estrogenic...its not fluid though, its like...that's the thing peeps trip on, its only if the fluid is hypotonic. You can live on mostly fluids if they are iso or slightly hypertonic. Milk is slightly hypotonic and OJ is pushing it, but near iso...depends on how much fat you're eating and stress youre under. If you aren't eating any fat, some of the sugar will be used to synthesize fat, effectively making the drink then hypotonic cause the sugar is no longer osmol active. Also if youre under a lot of stress, more of the sugar becomes cholesterol for cortisol estrogen adrenaline sake, also making you more prone to hypotonicity. Ive worked it all out man through months, years actually, of day to day recording and experience...its a trip, but I always know exactly where I stand now...I can tell from cues, everything from voice and breath as to how tonified I am. And its pretty amazing to see how even like, 1/4 of a teaspoon of water or 0.1 tsp of sugar can make a huge difference, ntoicable and flip switch from irritated to all good, if you're bordering on the isotonic line one way or the other

Yes, getting away with all that gluten, starch and PUFA.
Amazing what epigenetics could accomplish.

pboy, say you can handle much hydrolyzed gelatin.

Hi Sheik,
I think eating food you like is part of 'Peating'.
So is watching yourself, and seeing how you respond to different foods.

If it were me, I'd think it's reasonable to try adding in a little of pretty much anything you are hankering for, as long as it's not high PUFA, and watch to see if it's serving you well or messing you up, and be guided by that. I think there may be a case for eating a bit more varied a diet than just half a dozen foods all the time, partly to help get all the trace nutrients, and partly to help keep your palate in touch with what's available.
If what you are eating now is not tasting good to you, that may be a sign that you are missing out on something you need, or something's a bit out of balance for what you need.

Have you had a look at the recipe section?

You can use cronometer to see what you are getting nutrient-wise, so you can avoid getting too low on anything, but do eat at least 80-100 g protein, probably more carbs and calories than cronometer suggests (and probably more carbs than protein), and obviously don't feel you should meet their PUFA target.

Then watch how you react to things, and tune it to get foods that meet your needs for good taste as well as metabolically supportive factors. If you can drink a litre of OJ and 1-2 litres of milk, that can provide lots of useful nutrition, even if you also eat other things.

I can't say I've solved my key issues, so I may well change my diet further in the future, and I don't count as an obvious success here, but I find it gives me more energy, more pleasure, and less effort than what I was doing before.
I eat most of the things on your list regularly except seldom yogurt or aged cheese (because I have reacted badly to them). But I also regularly eat meat, potatoes, various other fruit as available, vegetables, chocolate, and occasional random foods when I'm socialising or if I get a particular craving. I crave bread occasionally, but if I eat much wheat I get digestive trouble. As long as I salt my food generously, I don't crave high MSG foods. The first time I briefly played with some Peat-inspired ideas, I found I couldn't drink much OJ - now I drink 1/2-1 l/day, but only particular brands, and only with baking soda added. I've had trouble with too much milk (though I love it), so I'm currently limiting it but still have some.
