Have you had the impression that having sex increases your libido vs abstinence or masturbation?
pretty sure it wasnt . but going to to this again tomorrow.
abstinece definetly increases libido for me. why ?

I think having sex with some regularity tends to keep things running better vs abstinence. I surely think masturbation is usually a bad a idea.

probably. sex is to be seen different than masturbation . because masturbation becomes addictive pretty fast especially combined with porn (dopamin rush) . doesnt mean that sex cant be abused too though !

I don't think porn makes masturbation an addiction, I think seeking porn and overfapping is simply a sign of something going wrong in the insides, possible the digestive tract, externally, there's a lack of purpose (social, work, stimulating the mind, moving..), as the quote for Blake goes, "the busy bee has no time for sorrow". This is what I noticed anyway.

I don't think porn makes masturbation an addiction, I think seeking porn and overfapping is simply a sign of something going wrong in the insides, possible the digestive tract, externally, there's a lack of purpose (social, work, stimulating the mind, moving..), as the quote for Blake goes, "the busy bee has no time for sorrow". This is what I noticed anyway.

it doesnt make it an addiction! masturbation itself CAN become an addiction . porn just intensifies the risk / the dopamine release . you can become addicted to everything that gives you pleasure or a reward. i once read of a guy who was addicted to listening to music and walking through his room for hours everyday...
in nature rewards come only though labor . so it could become a problem if the reward is always there and always for free (--> porn) ... i dont want to hate on porn . i respect those people. but its obvious that it can become kind of a problem in our generation.

@vulture i actually was able to reproduce the effect today . i feel like it was a little bit weaker ,but it could be because i splitted the dose in half. one with and one without food . the one on an empty stomach worked much better .
i also felt like the confidence stayed. just the clarity of mind i had to reproduce again , it definetly helps me study at the moment ...

I disagree, as I said I don't think the problem is the activity itself but the environment and probably gut health. I also looked a lot into porn addiction etc.. I now think it's a load of ***t for the most part but for some quitting it means starting somewhere, for many I'd say it becomes an odd focus point. As health improves the lust for porn goes away, whether through worthy pursuits, better social life, improved digestion, sunlight etc... This being said I could just have a different experience than others, some smoke without being addicted, but again I think addiction may stem from poor health. Obviously, I could be wrong.

i think you can approach it both ways. but a person that is so deep into porn normally doesnt make an effort to change its life via nutrition.

The more I read this forum and see what problems people seem to experience the more I’m thinking Adrenals-Thyroid.

Everything else is downstream from cholesterol conversion. If you’re hypothyroid your LDL will pile up and eventually get oxidized. If you’re hypothyroid your DHT will be metabolized in to the wrong diol and remain pro carcinogenic / leads to hair loss instead of being an anti cancer / ERb agonist (thus hair protective) pro hormone. If you’re hypothyroid the overall anabolism will suck. If you’re hypothyroid the overall glucose and lipid metabolism will not be as flexible as it should. And so on and so forth.

The adrenal hyperdrive seems to be one of the main causes leading to thyroid “fatigue” especially with insufficient micronutrition, low stomach acid upon aging, lack of sunlight... the usual suspects.

Ignoring the state of the adrenals+thyroid is dangerous because it can lead to issuing the wrong dietary recommendations such as eating saturated fats + sugar en masse. Looks like coconut oil is thyroid friendly though - maybe the MCT, maybe the 12-14 carbon chains. I don’t know here.

All of that being said finding a capable doctor isn’t going to be easy when it comes to thyroid. I’d start with Ray

Sorry for not looking more into it, but is taking regular BCAA (bodybuilding supplement) good for this purpose, or do I really have to pay attention at the amino-acid profile, to not overdo-it on tryptophan?
I only took creatine and whey protein as bodybuilding supplements, as from my reading, these are the ones that really matter. About BCAA's, I remember reading on how they're not needed (for muscle gain benefits) if your protein intake is high enough, and may only be useful for fasted training.
But if they help in raising T levels, I'm interested in trying it out.

So what are you suggesting? That eating high sugar and high SFA can be detrimental in certain conditions?

After about 2 years of almost incessant researching and reading Peat's books, articles, and interviews I put together a formula that seems to work pretty well for me. The explanation is simple - focus on diet and supplements that reduce prolactin, reduce serotonin, reduce estrogen, increase dopamine, increase testosterone, lower cortisol. So, my ingredients are as follows:

1. About 140g of protein daily in divided doses. My protein is a mix I make. I ordered some pure whey, pure casein, and pure gelatin powder. Both the whey and casein I order say on the label they have no added tryptophan and cysteine, which is important because most commercial whey and casein do have those two amino acids added on top of what is naturally present in the protein itself. The label also lists the amount of each amino acid in 100g of protein and both tryptophan and cystein are very low. I make a mixture of about 70g that I take in the morning and evening for a total of 140g. The mixture is as follows: 20g whey, 20g casein, 30g gelatin. I mix that powder dry and then use a tablespoon to ingest it and chase down with some orange juice.
2. Supplements: vitamin E (lowers both prolactin and estrogen), zinc (lowers both prolactin and estrogen), vitamin B6 (lowers prolactin and in old studies from the 1970s seems to be acting as an agonist of dopamine "receptors", BCAA (compete with tryptophan for transport into the brain so taking them lowers serotonin to achieve an effect similar to that magical substance RP mentions called P-chloro-phenylalanine), Magnesium (improves excretion of estrogen from the body). Dosage: 30mg zinc (as zinc gluconate), 5 mg B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), 2000mg mixed tocoherols (not a typo - yes I mean 2000mg and not 2000IU), 3500mg BCAA.
The studies on the effects of tocopherol, zinc, and B6 on estrogen, prolactin, etc I already posted in my other posts. Here are the studies on BCAA depleting serotonin, and if combined with phenylalanine and tyrosine (from the 140g of protein) increasing dopamine:

I did some blood tests too. Total testosterone was above 1500ng/dl, which is the highest the lab equipment would measure. So mine was higher but they could not determine how high. A level of 900ng/dl is considered very high and the upper limit for modern males. I am not sure I'd recommend this state of affairs as something to be maintained long term considering T easily aromatizes when it stays elevated for a few days. I just did it as an experiment that what I learned from Peat and my other sources does work as intended.

I'm going to try this. This is an old post, so I hope it's still applicable. I've been searching for a good way to use whey protein because I do want to start lifting weights again and I'm not sure the hydrolyzed gelatin will help add muscle in the same way whey can. I'm now 55 so I need a little "boost"

I think Protein Factory sells some clean casein as well as whey. So, I'll give this a try.

Please let me know if anything has changed since this post was made.
