Hi guys, I hope you are all doing well
I've heard countless times that ejaculation and masturbation spikes prolactin and are bad if you are losing your hair
But what about sex, with an actual human being? I'm having sex like 3 times per week and we often do it twice in a row with my partner. I have a receding hairline.
I know the sex/hairloss connection is broscience, but what do y'all peatheads think ?

Thanks guys, have a great day !

Prolactin spikes when you ejaculate. It doesn’t matter it's from sex or masturbate.

So, in the context of a peaty protocol to halt/regrow hair, sex with ejaculation is excluded? That seems incompatible if you have a girlfriend, but I guess if it's that bad for hair, one could learn and try to get total control of its ejaculation, that would work right ?

sex without the purpose of having an orgasm is so much better and it doesn't create prolactin. It is SO MUCH MORE PLEASURABLE.

Dude its not excluded, have sex as much as you want. Anyone telling you that ejaculation is bad for hair and you should stop it even if you have a girlfriend is a kook. Prolactin from ejaculation is a non-issue.

Why don't you just use Vitamin E? Peat says it's one of the safest things. It inhibits estrogen and prolactin.

P5P is another potent prolactin inhibitor.

Zinc too.

+1 Additionally, I think actual sex comes with other beneficial hormonal benefits from the skin contact, etc. which balance out any potential negatives of a temporary spike in prolactin

Propaganda doesn't wait for Masturbators, neither do prostitutes and neither does Ray Peat (I'm guessin). Why are we waitin for ourselves?

I'm pretty sure sex and the prolactin release is a non-issue. Having sex and orgasming is a great stress reliever.

Hair loss is a sign of general health regression. So it would be more helpful to look at protein, calcium, vitamin D, salt, magnesium intake, etc.

People need to stop, are you trying to tell me sex is bad for hair loss ? I lost all my hair in mid twenties and I was not sexually active and masturbated maybe 10 times a year ... come on

Not yet, but it is going to get religious pretty soon in here. We just need the right people to show up which I am sure they will.

yes religious is just beliefs people have, not backed up by anything. That's what I mean.

Orgasms are very expensive. They take a lot out of men. They have profound effects.

Indeed they are... they can lead to children and they cost you a bloody fortune...

No one who understands it will say that. In fact your experience and that of others highlighted by haidut seem to point to the opposite, the guys with impaired metabolism (and libido) lose their hair, not the guys with great libido and high thyroid function.

Although I can see how excessive, mania-driven sexual activity (propped up by thyroid) where you have to pop Cialis (I know guys in their 20s who do this) can be harmful, since the prolactin levels stay constantly elevated and the zinc is depleted.

I thought you grew hair on your hand when you masturbate

Lol, I can almost visualize the article title:
