Do we know if 5-HTP and 5-AR related activity is the same in prostate tissue as it is for other tissues?

I notice that for a lot of chemicals only prostate cells or prostate cancer cells are tested as a litmus test for AR activity

How do we know this reflects AR activity in other tissues?

Varicocele is the root cause of BPH: Destruction of the valves in the spermatic veins produces elevated pressure which diverts undiluted testostero... - PubMed - NCBI

According to this theory, the real cause is refluxed testosterone-rich blood pooling around the prostate (varicoceles are incredibly common in older men). Under these circumstances, down-regulating the AR makes sense. But what if the prostate is getting a normal exposure to testosterone to begin with? Then it might tip the balance too far in the other direction.
