Serotonin promotes (futile) patience and (false) faith in future rewards

Why I understand that serotonin is not good in excess, I think the current generations suffer from the inability to delay gratification. Every worthwhile achievement: for instance mastering your craft, learning about a difficult topic, raising a child requires patience and perseverance. It seems to me that today people expect fast results, and they are not willing to put enough effort. Discipline is freedom. It doesn't need to have any religious context. We are all given 24h each day, and it's up to you how you will use it. There is nothing wrong with spending an entire day doing whatever you want to do, as long as it's what you truly want to do, and you don't fritter away your precious time on things that just don't matter to you, because you lack discipline and direction in your life.

I always imagined high serotonin people as driven by emotions of any kind.
