If you buy a high grade delta tocotrienol supplement, there are no PUFAs and no carotenes in the extracted, concentrated product. Peat has changed his view on them, saying that a little bit of tocotrienols is helpful. DeltaGold supplements can be found with MCT oil as a base. The pills are so small, and even 'if' they did have these by products, the amount would be extremely small, Peat's carrot salad would give you more carotene, and milk would give you much more PUFA. There may be other reasons not to like tocotrienols, like because they are an unsaturated compound {so is vitamin A}, but not because of the aforementioned reasons. I think more studies are needed on tocotrienols to find out their true value.

carrots suppress the thyroid?? I thought RP was all about helping the thyroid?

Off topic but they are referring to the beta-carotene within the carrot. Not all of it is absorbed from raw carrot, and even less if you rinse it first.

Hence the "carrot a day", meaning 1 medium sized carrot, raw, skin peeled, rinsed.

Some individuals may have more concerns with beta carotene, most others less so. As with anything else, too much of anything becomes a bad thing.
